Carolina Panthers vs Arizona Cardinals

Time to start talking about the Panthers next opponent.

The Cardinals were one quarter away from joining the 3-0 club Sunday. Instead, they became a part of the blown fourth-quarter lead club.

The Cardinals led the winless Lions, 23-20, entering the fourth quarter. But Detroit hit two field goals, including one as time expired, to snap its 11-game losing streak.

Still, Arizona (2-1) has put together a solid open to the season, knocking off San Francisco and Washington before the heartbreaker against Detroit.

The Panthers open up 3 point underdogs to the Cardinals.

What are your thoughts on this game?

Not impressed with their 2-1 start.

I am, Kyler Murray and Hopkins are deadly together. Their defense leaves a lot to be desired. But their offense, sans their mediocre O-Line is damn good. Kyler Murray's running ability in the open field is quite disgusting. When he came out, I wanted us to trade Cam for him straight up. But ya know, it is what it is.

Not saying it won’t be a challenge for us but their schedule hasn’t been that tough thus far.

San Fran was mostly healthy when they played them and San Fran lost. I dunno. It’s about on the same level as the Panthers schedule. I think Detroit is better than their record.

Detroit just broke an 11 game losing streak in the 4th quarter. They can’t be much better than us.

This game is going to be a lot tougher than the Chargers potentially. Teddy needs to come out of his shell because I think this could turn ugly. But I said that about the last 3 games and they were all close. So what do I know?

Kyler Murray has been throwing a lot of interception these last few games. So possibly the Cardinals will beat themselves.

Good friend of mine I watch a lot of football with is a big Cardinals fan so he gave me a pretty good lowdown on the team.

He's high on Kyler but says he along with the team make a lot of mistakes and bad penalties. Kyler has 5 INTs to 4 TDs right now. Says his scrambling ability is keeping them in games - should be a big problem for the Panthers. Will probably need to put Chinn or Thompson on him as a spy. Should expect him to have at least 1-2 turnovers. If Kyler plays a mistake free game, Panthers have no chance.

Defense is banged up and not very good. He said even without CMC the Panthers should be able to score. Said their top pick Simmons has looked lost in the first few games and gave up some big plays in his first few games. He's moving to safety to account for some injuries, but also because they don't really know where to put him.

Said he thinks the Cardinals will win but says it's probably a tossup.

Yeah, Simmons is just too raw. It's almost like Drafting a QB at this point, I wanted him and believe he's going to be good, but man.

If we see Burns/Brown play well again, Cards are in for some poo. If Burns and Brown revert back to just being okay, yeah. Cards should win it.

    • I respect his enthusiasm. Time will tell if it's warrented.
    • Oh I went off and fully entertained my wife last night as my emails go to her phone as well because of my health. So she got the whole conversation as it happened.    Like I went to games in Detroit for the cup finals, I've been to games in Greensboro, Raleigh, and Chicago as well. My mom and her nurse friend double dated one of the players from when the team was in Greensboro. "He's still with the team in some compacity as well." I know people who work for the team at the arena as well. How the hell would I not be considered a fan. Only reason I haven't gone to a game since 2022 is because of my health and money situation. Last game I went to was at United Center in Chicago and me and my wife spent around 1k for glass seats and some food at the arena and we were next to the penalty box. The pictures of the hurricane players I took are lost because my phone crapped out a few weeks later.
    • The Falcons win was a fantastic way to end the season and I think just about every Panthers fan would agree the team the coaching staff and particularly Bryce Young were impressive. We really needed that. Credit where it's due. At the same time. Now we have to establish it wasn't just a flash in the pan. We had one of those earlier in the season against the Raiders. As a tortured Panthers fan I have to acknowledge that. I know you're joking but in all seriousness I don't think the QB sneak is something for us to be concerned about in general but I would be lying to myself if I did not acknowledge that looking back at one particular game last season where we continually trotted out Eddie Pinero on 4th and short on the opponents side of the field we could use some creativity in those situations and it's also a matter of predictability. As time goes on it's something for Canales to work on and figure out. Especially with our kicker situation as it stands.
