Let's go for THREE IN A ROW!!! DESTROY THE DIRTY BIRDS!!! Hepcat's weekly POSITIVITY POST!

Okay guys. So, I started a positivity thread before the Chargers game. And guess what. We won!

Then last week, riding the positive momentum, I made another positivity post! And we won!

So, I have to keep going, right? Here we go again!

So this week, it's our old nemesis, the Atlanta Falcons. This team OWNED the Ron Rivera era Panthers. The Panthers were an ABYSMAL 6-12 against the Falcons from 2011-2019 under Rivera. The Panthers have lost their last 5 games against the Falcons, and none of the games were even that close. Even their lone win against the Falcons in 2017 was a Julio Jones drop away from another Falcons victory. The Falcons have won the season series against the Panthers 4 times to the Panthers 1 time.

But enough of the negative, this is a new era! Gone are the days of Ron Rivera's slow, often unprepared and unmotivated squads. Now, Matt Rhule's scrappy, never-give-up teams are riding a 2 game winning streak and riding high!

Teddy Bridgewater is coming off his best game as a Panther, scoring 3 TDs and having a scrambling TD reminiscent of Cam Newton's many rushing TDs. Mike Davis has been a pleasant surprise, stepping in for CMC and the offense hasn't missed a beat. Robby Anderson has grabbed the WR1 slot and ran with it with his great speed. Curtis Samuel actually made an impact in the last game against the Cardinals. DJ Moore is consistently making plays. The offensive line is actually starting to get better. There's a lot to be excited about!

And the young defense seems to be getting better every game. Brian Burns has been consistently destroying opposing tackles and getting pressure on QBs. Derrick Brown is morphing into a dominant DT before our eyes. Rasul Douglas came off the street and became the solid cornerback this Panthers defense desperately needed. Shaq Thompson is doing his best to take the place of the HOF linebackers that came before him.

And this hot Panthers team rolls into Atlanta facing a Falcons team desperate for a win. They are 0-4 after a few soul crushing losses where they again blew big leads at the end of the game. They are extremely banged up with injuries and starting backups in their secondary. Julio Jones might be out this week as well.

This Panthers team should be able to pass the ball against the worst passing defense in the NFL. With Bridgewater playing well and the amount of weapons on this Panthers offense, Bridgewater should have a good game.

On defense, the Falcons present a lot of problems. Even without Julio Jones, Calvin Ridley is an emerging star and should be able to get open. Kyler Murray missed some open receivers with poor throws against this Panthers defense last week. Matt Ryan is a veteran and will not miss those throws. It's on the young Panthers pass rush to get to the QB and make Matt Ryan make mistakes. And I believe they will. Matt Ryan has been sacked 9 times in 4 games. Against the Packers last week, they gave up 4 sacks.

If the Panthers pass rush can get going, and Bridgewater can take advantage against a weak secondary, the Panthers have a VERY good chance to win this game.

EXORCIZE THE DEMONS OF RON RIVERA'S FAILURES!!!! DESTROY THE DIRTY BIRDS!!!!

Just on general principal I approve of the weekly positivity post. Keep up the good work. Way to keep the good vibes flowing.

Gotta stay positive somehow in this crazy year. I'm going to enjoy every game we play win or lose this season. Ron Rivera is gone and there's a lot to be excited about on this team.

I agree. Just like last year, everyone is talking about how bad the Falcons are and how the Panthers will "easily" beat them. The Panthers have ONE win against them since 2017, and even in that playoff season the Panthers needed a drop from Julio Jones in the end zone to win the game. The Falcons absolutely own the Panthers in the last 5 seasons and stupid idiot fans need to shut up about us even thinking about beating them until we actually show we can do it.

Panthers are easily the worst team in the NFC South and it's not even close. The Chargers gifted the Panthers a win yesterday and everyone acts like this team is suddenly a contender. I'm not sure what game everyone else watched, but the Chargers literally tried to lose the game at every turn, gifted the Panthers great field position multiple times, and the Panthers still barely won the game. That game should have been 42-16.

To be fair and transparent...”Mr. Positivity” here also makes posts like the one above in between his “positivity threads”. So it comes off as a bit disingenuous when you spew this hatred towards people being positive and then you’re all like “Ra ra, positivity guys!!! Am I right??”. Pick a side dude...

"It’s feeling good man, I don’t want to lose this feeling. I don’t want to go back to losing, that sucks," Burns said. "It’s feeling good, so we have to keep this momentum, keep this ball rolling. I feel like everything is coming together; besides the little bonehead penalties, everything is coming together. The offense is playing well, the defense is playing extremely well, in my opinion, and special teams is making plays as well. As long as we can keep this momentum and keep it going, I don’t think we can be stopped, I don’t think we’re scratching the surface yet."

Why do I have to pick a side? I didn’t make an insane post about how the Panthers are guaranteed to beat the Falcons and we are already 3-2. I just said they could and stated reasons why. And there’s a lot of things to be positive about especially after the last game.

The Falcons HAVE owned the Panthers and I made that VERY clear in my post. The Chargers DID gift the Panthers a win. But, they thoroughly demolished the Cardinals a week later so opinions can change.

I’ve gotten more positive as the season goes on, I just don’t like seeing ridiculous unabashed guarantees when we’re talking about teams that have completely owned us.

That was Quinn against Rivera. Just like Rivera has Arians and Belichick's number, Quinn has Rivera's. Whole new rivalry now with Rhule here.

I know the huggers will bust a neck vein over this, but Cam did not play well vs. Atlanta--his hometown team.   Bridgewater does not have that problem--

Yeah this is definitely true. Not sure what it was with him and Atlanta but they were one of his bugaboos his whole career here. Kinda weird since most players play better vs. their hometown teams.

Let's also remember there is a Roaring Riot membership card entombed in the newly paved parking lot when the stadium was being built put there by our very own @SCP This has to account for something, right? Positivity!

May they be bereft of mind and memory, be it a Ryan or those who deprive us of victory. May the worms, and maggots penetrate his hands, head, feet, as well as his limbs and marrows.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
