Yeah, he's a stopgap, and he will always be that way. Holy poo dude. REALLY? And we need the QB to learn the ropes under him for a year. Like Mahomes did under Smith.

Why are you being a weirdo and grouping people? :Eyes_Emoji_42x42:

For this coming draft... QB isn't the kind of need where no matter what we know we're getting a new QB.  Not yet, at least.  Mahomes is a good comparison - the chiefs stuck with Smith for years before they found the right guy to replace him.  I could see us doing the same, at least for next year.

This team is far more than a QB away from the superb owl.

Totally fine with people thinking Teddy is a bridge QB. Not fine at all with people suggesting that we go draft a day two QB in the first and stick them behind a porous offensive line as if that's going to make the team more successful. We saw Cam get killed and his career shortened by not adequately protecting him.

Offensive line, given the contracts and what's expiring, is in much dire need of being addressed. Cam stans can downplay Teddy all they want, but it doesn't change that no matter who is behind center they're going to get murdered.

Most people want a top qb from this draft because it’s a loaded qb class. Zach, trey or fields. Obviously Lawrence is a jet. If we don’t get those top3 we continue to build the lines up. I haven’t seen any “cam stans” wanting a day 2 qb with a top 10 pick. Those three qbs I mentioned are round 1 qbs right now imo. If the team has a qb they like you do not pass it up. Franchise qbs are hard to get. And the good thing is we have teddy to play next year so that qb can sit and learn while we build up the line.

I've seen a few bring up Trask in the 1st as well as Wilson. Wilson had a 5th round grade coming into the season and has been lighting it up, but there are still concerns about his size. If he keeps putting his arm talent on display, I can see him sneaking in to the first, but would that be an immediate upgrade for the team over say a top 10 prospect that plays OL, TE, or MLB that fell due to a run on QBs to start? I'd rather gamble on Micah Parsons if he slips out of the top 10 than Kyle Trask (Wilson I've gotta see keep it up for a few more games, but he's definitely an intriguing prospect)

Also you were not fine with this for months until this post.

I was fine with folks thinking it, I wasn't fine with folks claiming it as a definite before giving the man an opportunity. When people are saying he's a stopgap because he's 28 yet they ignore the time lost to injury, yea that's dumb on their part. :3

If Trask and Parsons are both available we would be stupid to pick Trask.

Unfortunately, many of the folks reacting positively to this have been very vocal about not believing Teddy should get any shots. Their post history tells on em. ~\_(ツ)_/~

I think he's having his shot. But I'm not opposed to them giving him protection and seeing what he can do. I still don't think he's the one though. Too many late game mistakes

No on trask for me. Wilson is a baller. Can throw it all over the field from different angles. I’m still really high on Lance but we’ll see.

if the team feels one of these guys is a franchise qb I’m not gonna be pissed we didn’t take an OL or MLB.

Well he’s proving us right as the season goes on :-)

I'm very interested to see how Wilson finishes up the season as he might be available in the middle of the first. I think somebody takes a shot on Lance in the top 10. Big question will be the shuffling that could occur should Lawrence try to avoid the Jets.

    • Yeah and I am doubtful he can offer that consistently. I don’t have many years left at my age and in my view we have wasted two and this whole exercise with him was always a three year minimum.  I am out on that with a guy I don’t believe in, and never believed in, it has sucked. To me it is a costly detour off the right track. Years.    But I am not so rigid that I can’t see excellence. He needs to display it though, consistently before I change my outlook.
    • No, when I said rage, I meant rage, which only applies to certain fans on this board. Your timeline of trying to assess whether he is the future or not is really tied to the discussions surrounding his second contract. If this team is going to commit to some monster contract while he has shown nothing but glimpses of brilliance would be deservedly worrisome, so the clock is genuinely ticking for him to settle into something resembling his final form. Perhaps a best case scenario is that he plays well, the team succeeds, but he does so with a more limited role that makes the rest of the league view him as a game manager, and his second contract value reflects that. Then he continues to improve and becomes a bargain comparatively while not handicapping the team around him, and we enter an era of consistent championship competitiveness that the fanbase has craved for decades and has never really experienced before. But that requires many, many things to go right and for Bryce himself to facilitate that if he ends up being the quarterback of the future.
    • Exactly. And the flame throwers as well, get location benefits from not going all out. But they have it in reserve.  Not sure how much Greg had but he was an artist.  There was a YouTube I came across last year or maybe even 2023 and I don’t how to even find now but it had two NFL QBs I want say one was Carr from the Raiders but I don’t really remember  The point of it is they stood side by side throwing identical distances to identical targets. Radar gun was used.  They threw the normal effort (not all out) and it was measured etc. Then they were asked to throw their ‘fastball’. They were missing and most often they were missing high. It demonstrated the same principle.    edit: and applying that to arm strength, give me the guy that doesn’t need max effort to have good velocity. The margins are so narrow with less velocity in tne NFL the defenders can Close on it and this is a league where they value down to the 100th of a second level. It is that tight
