Just got this from NFLN. Tom Brady is 0-19 with 3 picks in passes over 20yds. Does this mean we can win with Teddy with a few more pieces or does it mean the Bucs have 0 shot at the Bowl. It does make me wonder if I'm being to hard on Teddy.

Some of that is that dipshit Arians dumb fug offense, some of that is that Tom Brady is 78 years old.

New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton, during that same span, is 4-of-7 for 145 yards with a touchdown on passes that traveled 20-plus yards, per Next Gen Stats.

PFF‘s deep passing charting is slightly different. They have Brady at 1-of-19 for 44 yards with three interceptions — for a 5.3 adjusted completion percentage and 0.0 passer rating — on deep balls in Weeks 8-11. PFF had Newton at 4-of-6 for 145 yards with a touchdown — for a 66.7 adjusted completion percentage and 149.3 passer rating — on deep balls in Weeks 8-11.

It means Brady is 43 years old.

well, that really isn't true.  He was terrible two games coming off of COVID.

outside of that? Cam has had NE in games they have no business being in.  None.   There isn't a team not named the Jets with a worse cast around their QB.

I've moved on from Cam.   This ain't a Teddy thread.  This is a Brady thread.

Cam also has his best passing % of his career and is on pace to challenge his TD rushing high he set in 2011.  He isn't terrible. He is one man showing it w/ no weapons.

This couldn't be less true at all. He's been inconsistent and not a threat as a passer at all. It's obvious they don't have much for receivers, but they have a great OL and still an above average D and oh by the way the greatest coach of all time (albeit a cheater). With a better QB, the Pats are in the playoff hunt.

Cam was inconsistent in 2011 when he rewrote the record book.  Cam was inconsistent in 2015 when he won the MVP.   He has always been a streaky player.

NE's roster is trash this year.    Belichick has essentially conceded that point. Cam will line up Sunday with arguably the worst passing options in all the NFL.

They might of had an above average defense.....if people (league high) didn't opt out and were actually playing this season.  Above average defenses can at least embarrass an old joke Joe Flacco.

In 2011 Cam looked elite at times, and had sustained elite play at times too with some poor play mixed in as well. In 2015 Cam was very consistent and dominated as a passer the entire second half of the season after being consistently solid in the first half. In 2020 Cam has had no sustained play at a level better than average at any point in this season. It's been a mix of terrible and average. Sure, he's had a couple really nice throws, but they are one-offs and not very often for a starting QB in the NFL. His best moments right now are still absolutely nothing compared to when he was in his prime here. It's clear as day to anyone watching him play and in the box scores. 4 passing touchdowns in 9 starts is absolutely putrid. He's 29th in the league in passing yards per game. Receivers aren't good but they've been open at times and even with bad receivers an NFL starting QB should throw more than a touchdown per game. He's not even throwing 0.5 TDs/game. And you can knock the weapons but they still have a top OL which makes up for that quite a bit. There's no way to spin that Cam has been anything but a huge weakness for the Patriots. It's a shame but his body has broken down and he isn't good enough in the non-physical aspects any more to make up for it.

You can look up the stats if you'd like, the pats do have an above average defense despite the opt outs (really the only significant one was Hightower). Their defense was the reason for the Dolphins, Raiders and Ravens wins.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
