Teddy Bridgewater: Panthers may have panicked late against Vikings

No, you don't understand. Not even close.

Part of the problem is that you and a couple of others are taking it as if it was meant to say this was the only thing wrong with Bridgewater.

That was never the case.

The premise, laid out as simply as possible is this: For whatever you think of his overall ability Bridgewater was more accurate, quicker with his reads, better at scrambling and a few other things early in the season than he is now.

That's not an excuse, it doesn't paint him in a good light and it doesn't minimize his problems. It's just an analysis of where he's at compared from early in the season to now, and it doesn't preclude there being other factors contributing to his regression.

I'd frame it as simply as this: Was the guy you saw yesterday the same guy that you saw in the first few games?

To answer that with a yes would be delusional, but I know there are some who will because that's their thing.

But the answer is no, and the wear and tear of the season is one of the reasons.

Not the only reason, but a reason.

I'll rank his performances by QBR this season.

Week 4(93.6)

Week 5(91.0)

Week 7(88.1)

Week 9(87.4)

Week 1(73.0)

Week 10(69.5)

Week 3(63.7)

Week 12(53.2)

Week 8(50.0)

Week 2(36.0)

Week 6(27.0)

That look like a trend or just a bunch of all over the map poo? Because I don't see a trend line leading towards fatigue. I see a bunch of inconsistent fuging play.

Don't even have to mention fatigue.

if you seriously think the guy you watched yesterday is the same guy that we saw early in the season, I can tell you that you don't know what you're watching.

I'm explaining one of the reasons why he's different, but even outside of that reason if you want to try to argue that he isn't different, yes that's delusional.

Yeah, I don't know what I'm watching.  Coming from the guy who posted blatant lies about Jerome Bettis and his productivity in the other thread.  Once again, you don't see how condescending you are to those who diverge from your opinion.  Those who disagree with you, and think Teddy has looked mediocre all season, and the only different in stats is because of how defenses are playing us (not to mention the higher caliber defenses)?  Yea, we don't know football.  You are something else, man.

Fatigued Teddy doe!

Those are actually some pretty good quarterback ratings for several weeks, including some of the early ones other than when we played some of our best defensive opponents (particularly weeks 2 and 6)

You might notice though that from week 8 onward, the average is lower minus week 9 when we went with a pretty brilliant game plan against the Chiefs.

Oh yeah? About those averages:

Weeks 1-8: 65.3

Weeks 9-12: 70.0

Even if you did take out that Week 9(which is blatantly skewing the data) Weeks 9-12 would still be 61.4.

Yeah, he isn't fatigued.

Yeah, he isn't fatigued.

You're pulling out a stat without looking at the context. And again, this is why I don't go by stats because you can skew stats to say pretty much whatever you want.

I'll ask the question again: Was the guy you saw yesterday the same player you saw in the early weeks?

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
