The best and only opportunities for the Carolina Panthers to win Super Bowls both came without stacked rosters, without a team of high draft picks and name-brand super stars.

A win is a win, and if anyone were to bring up tanking in an NFL locker room, you'd probably get your ass kicked. So, while this may be a great theory to toss around a message board, in real life professional athletes in the NFL don't think about tanking. Leave that up to the front office who will build a roster that won't be able to compete, that's the only way any kind of "tanking" takes place.

Sorry man, that's just wildly inaccurate. Particularly the 2015 team. The offense was led by Cam who was a former #1 overall pick, MVP, and one of the biggest stars in sports at the time. The defense was led by Luke who was a DPOY, former top 10 pick, and one of the biggest defensive stars in football at the time.

So two players is wildly inaccurate?  He said a TEAM of high draft picks and name-brand superstars and you picked two.  LOL

There's no such thing as a team full of high draft picks, but that team was pretty close to it. Any idiot knows that. But it's very rare for a team to have arguably the biggest stars in the league at the time on both sides of the ball. You know, high draft picks and name brand stars. There were six starters on that team that were drafted in the top half of the 1st round.

Without looking, who were the WRs on that 2015 roster? Corey Brown, Devin Funchess and Ted Ginn.

RBs? Stewart, Whitaker and CAP?

C'mon, man.

I agree and I believe that back then the Panthers had the most drafted players on their roster which included most of their first round picks.

Maybe my word choice wasn't the best when I mentioned draft picks and completely overlooked who was doing the drafting. We all know Marty Hurney was one of the best at drafting a projected 4th rounder in the 2nd, thereby making him a "high round draft pick."

Every roster has weaknesses. That's the reality of a hard cap league. But that roster absolutely was not short on premium draft picks and star power. It's just revisionist history to paint it that way.

9 first round picks on that roster, 3 of them were top 10.   Try again.

    • He is a really good WR and they have a rookie QB so they can afford it. Look at what they have been wasting on Cousins for years? That's where this cap came from lol. Now the guaranteed money is high but Minny had to keep him while taking a shot on a rookie QB.
    • Johnson is very smart IMO. He will get paid either way but avoiding a terrible spot can save your career too. He looks to be working the system and good for him. I always thought hiring interviews go both ways and have been disappointed watching people not realize this. He handled DC roughly but it was also funny because he did see them as what they are which is a new ownership group, even with Petters, he would be likely be destined for failure there while they figure out the normal learning curve of the NFL.  It's not lying it's just 'your great but I can't say what your not because that is taboo'. Sometimes lies are expected if the truth isn't what they want.  I agree generally. Ron was doing great work as a DC where he put in 6 years as DC at 2 teams vs Canales 1 year as OC before becoming a HC. Ron is such a known quantity by now, he earned his 2nd shot as a HC and it went as expected given his proclivities. Offense is just safer in this NFL vs Defense so any one that can score will get a look. Ryans is a beast but how do you think he fairs without Slowick? Which HCs were in the SB? Offensive guys. It's a thing and makes laughing about TB, Atlanta and NO all having beatable defensive coaches the Panthers still can't beat LOL. It's a dump. If your building a career the Panthers are a long shot. If you are taking a shot, getting paid and/or ready to grow from this failure then this is a great option. I think the jobs are extremely valuable on many levels but there is always a turd in the punchbowl with Tepper. Hurney, Rhule, Friterer, now Caldwell and maybe Morgan. Tepper always leaves some dookie around to contaminate the next batch...they literally help him fug up the next time. It's Tepper's MO, spend lots of money and lean on past failures into new failures. There has not been a truly fresh start under Tepper yet which explains why he keeps failing.
    • yeah lol never say it can't get any worse with David Tepper in charge
