Let's say you are Deshaun Watson, bias aside, where do you want to go?

Depends if he want to compete now for a SB or be a part of consistent winner like we will be.

He would be a baller on this team. We probably have the most attractive weapons outside of TE. We’d be in the playoffs easily with him at the helm. Another solid draft, two for certain and I think we’ll go deep in the playoffs for a long time.

We just aren’t a complete team right now.

Wrong, getting rid of CMC and a defensive player probably Burns would be dumb as hell.

To be fair, we don't really know if they'll remain dysfunctional now that Gase is gone.

Well, certainly they'll be less dysfunctional 😂, but for me, it goes beyond that.  Even with a new GM, there have been whispers out there about Woody Johnson for years for having a bad reputation with players/the locker room and I would feel like that has a clear effect on their on-field performance...  and I'm not just saying that hoping to speak Watson to the Panthers into existence...  as a player, those things would really concern me with any organization.

The first thing that always comes to mind for me about Johnson is how he held on to Rex Ryan because he liked his bravado.

That apparently somehow made up for the fact that they were losing.

Watson is going to cost too much, and as much as I would love to see it, we don't have the pieces yet.  You can have Charles Linbergh flying your plane, but if the plane is full of second-hand equipment and faulty parts, the flight will be problematic.  We heed to build the plane and find the right pilot.  I think we can do it in 2021, but not if you go all in on one player.  Houston II.

Meh. Pretty damn average defense last year, and it'll only get better getting rid of the weak links on the defense. Watson would help tremendously, and would probably put Carolina in the Playoffs. Even if Carolina had to part with Teddy and CMAC to get it done.

If he goes to Miami I am seriously making a run at Tua.  If we can get him for a few non-day 1 picks I think that is a steal.  I realize many question his season last year but I think he can be awesome given some time.

Tua IMO has just as much upside as anyone in the draft outside of Trevor.

So you give someone poo for having a different opinion?  Pretty fugging arrogant.  I never said he would not help--but do you want another elite QB getting pounded because there is no LT, LG, or decent C?  Do you want to go another season without a MLB?  Watson does not tackle people or get the D off the field on third down--

If he goes to Miami, pretty good chance Tua is part of the trade package.

    • This is gonna be longest six weeks ever
    • This 1000%.  Hey who wants to sign with the guy that couldn't even get his client the guaranteed contract of a 3rd round pick?  Lmao
    • I don't think it's any weird or unique clause, it's the offset language, same thing so many contract disputes are over. It just means that including it, if a player is cut and then signed by another team, the original team would be able to subtract how much they're getting paid by the new team from what they still owe him on their guaranteed money. For example, it's why Russell Wilson signed for the minimum last year with the Steelers as that was included in his Denver contract.  So if he signed with the Steelers for $1 million, he'd get $1 million less from the Broncos, if it was $2 million, he'd get $2 million less, basically he couldn't make any more money than he was already going to make, so you sign for the minimum to not take unnecessary cap room from your new team while giving extra cap room to your old one. The problem with trying to include it in rookie deals is that a team trying to include it, it says they think they don't really believe the player will make it 4 years with the team before they cut them.  And this usually comes up with one or two rookies in most seasons, the difference is it's usually handled much more quietly and not as public and ugly as this one. The other difference is that it's happening with the Bengals, which I believe I saw are one of the few (or only?) team that doesn't have protections for rookies in rookie and mini camps to be able to participate even if they haven't signed their contract yet.  The other teams have injury protections that allow them to still play, but the Bengals do not, which is also why this one is so public and ugly, as most the time this happens, the rookie is still participating in the rookie and subsequent mini camps, giving them more time to get the contract done before training camp when they'd then hold out.
