Carolina Panthers to be 'aggressive' in pursuit of potential Deshaun Watson trade

Don't be afraid of greatness. We can piddle around with 1st round picks and constantly say "next year" or we can go get the man.

If we opt for the draft we're still giving up draft picks (at least a future first) to move up and scrap with other teams for the 2nd-3rd best QB on the board. So, it's not like we're giving up nothing if we don't go the Watson route. The future will be mortgaged to some extent for a franchise QB unless you wanna try and fully tank for a whole year, which will not happen. And you get what you pay for. Might as well get this right and get a guy like Watson than try to cheap out and end up with a Wilson experiment for the next four years and limited picks.

I'm sure Houston is loving giving away #3 and a shot at a QB or Sewell for the privilege of 4-12 and paying a fairly middle of the road LT a mega deal.

Yeah, that's not much. We'll have to give up more for Watson.

I'm okay with 3 first. Even okay with 3 first and a decent piece.

If the state of our offensive line was better I might agree, A Watson trade all but guarantees we will need two OTs have very little cap space and still be missing several key postions on defense, *assuming Paradis isn't cut* even if we could pull it off it will be four years to climb to 9-7 Watson isn't a magic cure all pill like phillybs viagra. He was FANTASTIC this season and won the same amount of games as TB.

Offensive line will get better. I think if we trade for Watson. They go balls to the wall in FA for more pieces on the line, and through the draft.

Vernon Butler..................which by the way could've been traded for Joe Thomas because the Browns were offering him for that. But dip poo Gettle tits said nope.

Vernon Butler is a late round pick who is a starter for a AFCG team, He had 7.5 sacks his last season here and was foolishly not tendered, Hardly a bust for the 30th pick of the draft....  Also Joe Thomas retired 7 months late HARDLY worth a first rounder.

    • So what about their sign is not compliant or causing the issue according to the rules? Them always having it, or the amount of time they have had it, or their loyalty to the team is not relevant to this situation. To be clear, I know next to nothing about this situation, just trying to clarify.  I have no dog in this fight and am emotionless on this topic. If you are breaking a rule, you do not get special treatment just because you have been here breaking it a long time.
    • The team fell for that late season averageness he displayed last year and got burned. You want to do that again? I don’t.  But I sort of do agree that we are stuck with him as the starter.  I can’t decide whether replacing him gets us into the playoffs so suffering through one last season is the price for freedom in 2026.  Three ways to be free in 2026: He actually plays like a real NFL QB,  The team sends him packing. Be completely out on tne Panthers until changes are made.
    • Short version = these people have had those seats since the beginning and haven't missed a game. They have always had their sign. They had to change the sign - I think in 2015 when Cam ripped that Packers fan's banner down (love him for that, by the way) - to be compliant and haven't had any issues in the last 10 years. The Panthers even used a photo of them and their sign in their album from the Falcons game. In the 3rd quarter last weekend it was decided that the sign needed to come down. Seems weird and unnecessary, especially since it has been there for every game for a decade.   EDIT: they've had it since 2003. Still a long-ass time.... Also "cringe" is a funny word for someone over the age of 18 who lives and overshares on the Huddle. But, ok....
