IMO, Chicago fans should want this. You have to figure it is either a HR deal or you get to finally fire your head coach. 

I went over and read Bears Forum and the feeling I got is that they really really really want Wentz

Washington gets linked to every available quarterback, same as us.

Whether or not the Eagles would do it is a valid question.

Well the receiving team also owes him almost no money on that contract. After next season he can be cut with basically zero cap hit.

The Eagles reportedly told all of their head coaching prospects that they were sticking with Wentz.

They also asked interviewees questions about how they would handle Wentz as part of the process.

When the process was over, they hired Nick Sirianni in part because of his connection with one of Wentz's former mentors in Frank Reich.

And now they're set to trade him away.

Real smooth...

I actually was talking to my buddy who is a Bears fan and this deal really makes a lot of sense if you are a Bears fan. On the one hand, you get a potentially elite QB. If that flames out next season, however, you cut ties with him and have no cap hit, you probably get a new GM and head coach(both on the hot seat).

Biggest downside is probably a late first rounder that you jettisoned this season and might have easily been squandered by the current GM.

Pace and Nagy probably do really need to hit a home run this season.

That's cool. Still spending a first on a hurt QB is not a good move or a win. Its just pissing away a first on a long shot. Miami should be used as an example of why you don't do this.

I mean, it actually worked out pretty well for Miami in the long run. They pivoted from their mistake quickly. 

That's actually why some of these trades aren't a bad deal depending on what you give up. The pivot can be quick and potentially cheap.

Now that makes sense.

Also, just go ahead and get rid of the HC & GM if you have to trade picks away to not have them waste them. Most owners are terrible at this football thing.

      The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
