Vikings Release Kyle Rudolph

I'm going to go against the grain here. I wouldn't like to sign him. He probably has a year or two left in his prime and it's possible his best days are behind him, he is likely going to be one of those overpriced signings that a few years down the road the team that signed him is trying to move off their books.

I think this TE class is good enough to wait till the draft and see if we can find value in the third or fourth round. Further I think there are going to be a lot of cap casualties this year. I think we can pair a young guy with a cheaper vet than Rudolph.

Might demand too much money, gives you a good red zone threat but doesn't do much after the catch. OJ Howard is coming off injury and might get cut by TB to save 6 mil, might be worth the reclamation project look on a one year deal. TE is low on my priority list but don't mind having a legit guy there like Cook.

Couple years ago would have jumped at the chance to sign Rudolph.  Now not so much.  Pairing him with Teddy Bridgewater would have made sense at the time.  But with TB likely on his way out, I would rather pair our young QB of the future with his own TE running partner.

Someone on Twitter (Panther reporter I think, but I forget which) pointed out that Joe Brady would be acquainted with Jared Cook.

May not mean anything, but...

But the question would be, do Rhule/Brady want to spend capital on a pass catching TE?   We really don't know the answer to that at this point I think

Jared Cook would be cheaper too and we're only looking for a year, maybe two in a deal

I'd agree it's an unknown.

    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
