We won't know for years.

But still...

Honestly he's the dude who's QB rankings I have been waiting on with baited breath. Pobody's nerfect but this dude seems to be able to evaluate QBs and how well they will transition to the NFL more accurately than most.

Would be very interested to know how he weighted the prospects (ie: expected pro career, current skillset, etc etc).

2018 he was on the money

Kellen Mond? Really?

That's almost a bigger question mark to me than ranking Wilson above Lawrence.

I don't know what the questions are with Mond. Dude looks and plays the part like Wilson. Maybe something mental, but in the case of physical tools he's definitely higher than Mac Jones

Mond is weird.  You watch him one week and he legitimately looks good.  Next week you wonder how he starts for a SEC school.

That's what I've thought.  He had unreal performances back in 2018 and I thought he was going to be something special.

Then in 2019, one week yikes, the next wow.  There was one game where he was unreal vs. Bama.

2020 comes along, he's looking okay, played Bama and Florida both well at the start of the year but then had some real head scratchers against Miss St & LSU.

Mad inconsistent.  He's got the tools but I just don't know what to think of him.  When he's looked good, he's looked like he had mad potential and he throws with confidence (when it looks like he's an actual QB)

If the draft goes:

1.  Trevor

2. Wilson

3. Sewell

4. Chase

5.  Sewell

6.  Fields

7. Lance

Do you take Jones?

he likes the white QBs

I think he likes a certain style (pocket presence) and was raised learning to play QB that way--so I am sure there is bias there, but it is not overtly racial.  Based on what he says, I can say that I would put Lance before Fields because he expressed some serious concerns about Fields--while he did not say much negative about Lance--except it was a play option, one read offense.

College coaches have systems that does not require a lot of reading for the QB; the coaches do not like giving that much autonomy to the 20-year old player.  It is hard to invest in a top draft pick if they have no tape or film of going through the progressions--Clemson (Watson, Lawrence) gives the QB the responsibility of going through progressions.  They will continue to put QBs in the NFL---the mind is a lot faster than legs, so the ability to process is very much valued in the NFL, and only players who have tape from systems that gave them that opportunity.  So the bias, then, might be on the college level more than the NFL scouting level.  If Watson and Lawrence have 3 years of processing through check downs, etc, they are certainly going to be ahead of the current batch of college programs that do not require it.  Having said that, if your college qb runs a play action, one read, and the read is covered, he needs to be a runner, so a lot of the highly recruited qbs have running ability---and Simms does not seem to see that as an asset.  I am speculating, but that is how it seems to me.

I’ve been listening to Simms podcast for years, keep in mind this is his first ranking of QBs this offseason, so it will change before the draft. He usually like physical traits over the fundamentals.

People keep saying he had Lamar 1, they are wrong. He had Josh Allen, Rosen and Baker over him in his final ranking.

As for Wilson I can see why he has at 1. Wilson is the closest thing I’ve seen to Aaron Rodgers as prospect ever. Best deep ball accuracy I’ve ever seen

My problem was I bought into the Trevor #1 notion early on, and really focused on the battle for #2 (Fields, Lance, Wilson).  Wilson came on late--so I never even compared them.

Major Props to Simms for forming your opinion and NOT just repeating then same drool 95% of the others do.

That said, dear football gods.... Jones and Mond need to land in perfect situations for his predictions to be right. Seen the years before, this is a total new year Chris Simms. Mond a first?!?!?!?!?!?!? I like him as a 4th hope and pray type, not a fuging 1st. Hes got the numbers and all, but also his results are very poo too. I can see Wilson over Lawrence, but not Mond as the 4th best with a firm 1st round grade. Then Jones as the 3rd best, dont care about your past ranking, these 2 haunt you big time.

His ranking also change and he does lots of double talk to cover his future.

Yeah I think people just took his initial rankings that season and didn’t also look at his final rankings. He had Rosen as the second QB off the board behind Josh Allen. He generates clicks early and then you have to wait for his final rankings to take place to really judge him.

We shouldn’t give him too much praise for an awesome initial ranking without also giving him the same flak for missing badly on his final rankings. Like what happened from the first to final ranking that sold you on Josh Rosen? Why drop Lamar? Etc.

The defenders are posting the most "correct" ranking and not his final one. Even though hes saying; "this isnt for clickbait, guyz", its for clickbait and reactions. The amount of clickbait BS has to bust at some point, its the worst year by far for the clickbait farming. It needs to come back to earth, enough is enough.

I don't even necessarily mind Wilson over Lawrence. But I mean c'mon on the other ones. I like Mond as much as anyone, but certainly not over Lance and Fields.

Mond in the first *like*, or 3rd? I got him in the 4th rounder, early at best.

Long ago I questioned Lawrence being the next messiah type, I didnt see Elway. I came away very "meh" with his 2020 games. Before those he already had the next big thing label. I liked Burrow more than him for sure. With Convid it was a totally different season and changed the valuation of everyone too.

I can see Mond in the 2nd tbh.

    • He talks way too much about his time in Seattle and Russell Wilson and how they built that team in 2012.   I won’t fall for any of it until I see them play for a year
    • Lol people like you are so silly and the only reason I seem to care to log on to post these days. How can you sit there and say Bryce was the reason Williams hurt his knee on that play. Maybe it's because you dislike Bryce so you are somewhat blind as to what actually happened? Not quite sure but maybe you should get your eyes checked. Williams hurt himself by trying to make a cut after spinning around to make that catch. Pause it at 3:24. Had he landed and ran like normal instead of going to plant his foot in the ground and make a cut he doesn't get hurt. Don't put that on Bryce. That was 100% Williams fault he got injured
