Crazy new mock from Zierlein

Has Atlanta giving us their #4 pick so we can get a QB.

Pick
4

Carolina Panthers
(via Falcons)
TRADE

Trey Lance
North Dakota State · QB · Sophomore (RS)
Matt Rhule is building for the future and a great way to do that is grabbing a dynamic talent who can sit early on. Moving up -- from No. 8 into the Falcons' No. 4 slot in this exercise -- might be the only way to get him.

Atlanta isn't trading us their pick without us giving up an inordinate amount of capital. In short, we'd have to drastically overpay to get #4. It would literally be cheaper to trade for #3.

Right....does he even know the teams are in the same division??  No way they are helping a division rival get their QB.

So, who the hell is Zierlein, and why should I care what this obvious fool is saying again?

(Not a shot at LP in the slightest. I'm sure you put it here for us to be shocked by and subsequently laugh at this clown, just no idea who this person is)

Zierlein's been doing this for a while. He's generally pretty good.

This one, though? Eeeehhh...

Cool, I stopped being lazy and just figured it out. Linky below:

None of their 'draft analysts' have ever really impressed me, but this one does make for some interesting and laughable material for sure. Thanks LP!

And here's the video explaining why...sort of.

https://www.nfl.com/videos/zierlein-why-i-can-see-panthers-trading-up-for-trey-lance

Basically just states we're building out the process and trading up to grab a QB makes sense w/TB still here so they can sit the new guy a year. Doesn't really explain why Lance over Fields or Wilson though (or why Atlanta would be stupid to trade to a div rival), which is kind of a big portion of what an analyst is supposed to do. So, a mix of unexplained conclusion and blatantly obvious takes.. not really impressed.

This is right. This year gone full overload with trying to get the most bizarre mock draft for clicks. They are not my thing, even the best mock experts get about 7 picks right and they are normally in the first ten picks. This year, just pushes me away much harder.

    • I don’t remember Mills from the USFL days just when he was in NO.  But when you saw Smitty it screamed oh yeah, this guy has something. Immediately. So, have not seen anything that dramatic with Young. All I know about him says he is solid with his character and smarts and don’t see a lot of that translating into screaming he really has something. I think the people that say he could possibly acceptably run an offense designed around him, with top flight talent in support, are probably about right. But I can’t see any Pro Bowls or lofty accomplishments in my crystal ball.
    • I thought I read they’d still be there but as a backup in case of malfunction.  So it’s not so much a goodbye as it is they’re being sidelined (I’ll see myself out)
    • Their forecheck is relentless because they are so physical and heavy.  It’s just a perfect mashup for how they play. Florida before Paul Marice played just like us. Speed but with finesse.  Paul made them but into playing heavy. They went and got players that added to that style he wants and it works.  Plus they have the best goalie in the league.  That helps more than anything. The canes have got let Koochie be their guy he will never become the star that most think he will if rod keeps sticking with vets that flame out.    1. Koochie or a Soros type player  2. Switch to zone defense  3. Get heavier.    like I said, I love Rod. Best pro coach ever in the Carolinas sports buy he is holding us back with his philosophy and style.  He is the reason.  He can change all of that with decisions.
