Joe Person: Panthers don't love other QB's besides Lawrence and Wilson

This is not directly related to the in-depth analysis weaving a tapestry of knowledge in this thread, but I do have an interrogative point to make. Which is better?:

A. An average QB with a strong defense and an stud OL and weapons like CMC, Anderson, and Moorex2?

B. A potentially-good to great QB (and potentially a bust) with a defense that features weak corners, an OL that features drifters and retreads, yet he still has weapons like CMC, Anderson, and Moorex2?

I do not know the answer, but I wonder how many early first round busts would have been good on established rosters?  The world may never know.

Wilson will cost as much as Watson would have before, it seems, which just feels ridiculous.  Given that, and the fact that Atlanta is not a viable trade option, we're simply going to need to see how the draft falls.

3 minutes ago, TheCasillas said:

If your offensive lineman's legs are not bent and straight its probably because they are in the huddle.

A shorter QB has to see around guys to see passing lanes. A taller guy has that vantage point and the one above the line.

That's why guys like Cam and Luck could just fire these downward passes from a high release point.

if anything what the 49ers trade shows is that if you feel you only need 1 piece to be competitive, you can sacrifice a ton.  We are not 1 piece away, so sacrificing a ton for unproven commodity, even one as enticing as Wilson, seems too big a risk.

BPA, trade up into late middle/late first for your QB.

Parsons or Pitts could be there at #8. Those are franchise changers, can't pass em' up.

One of those hyped QBs will drop though. Will the Panthers follow the hype?

Yes. Yes they will. Kiper pumped Jimmy Clausen up in such a way the hype train was rolling.

I want stats. TDs. Measurables. Not hype
