What was the boldest move this franchise has made?

I swear the panthers must have the weakest free agent history in the NFL? Please someone name another team worse than the panthers in free agency. Best we got is semi-old OG Matt Wahle, Ken " What youd say about money -Smitty " Lucas, and a past prime Reggie White. God dam its pathetic. fuging Matt Kalil feels like hes in the top five, what a joke in 26 years this is.

Fritterer fix this!!!!

Jakes extension, and I say this as a die hard jake fan.  That contract set us back and in fact harmed Cams development due to the cap situation.

I know some of our moves cross over into both bold and stupid, but even as a big fan of Jake I have to say that one was just plain stupid.

That extension was basically a reward for past service. Hurney and Richardson we're both okay with that kind of move, but smart teams know that's something you never do.

Let me also add drafting a QB converted to WR from a DII school in the second round. What an awful pick that was

That division 2 school beat the states darling tar heel blue just two years ago.

They actually drafted a QB, tried to turn him into a receiver in an Era where Foxball was still prevalent. Odds are he could've been a better QB than Jimmy Clausen though, at least he beat Michigan.

I’m not knocking Edwards or App St. But defending the decision to draft a QB from a small school like that to convert to WR rather than drafting one of the other dozen second round WR prospects that actually played WR in college was a terrible decision.

Thats something you might consider doing in the 4th round maybe. The 2nd? That’s incredibly dumb. I mean, I would be pissed if we picked a QB from the national championship team with the intentions of converting him to a WR in the 2nd round. Why do that? There are still tons of actual WRs with high upside available. It’s nonsense.

Greg was traded for aka herniay magic..... Top twenty all-time best trades. Still not a top level free agent signing. Theres not any, could add chuck smith to Wahle and Lucas. Ma'ake Kemoeatu may be in the top five too.

Lucas

Wahle

Kalil(matt)

Chuck Smith

Ma'ake Kemoeatu

Robby Anderson

@EgoDogg can you think of any headlining free agent pickups? * In high demand and not over the hill*

Yeah I guess a trade is not really the same as free agency. I kinda put all offseason moves into one category except the draft.

    • Just going off the draft sims and he's always sitting around 20 lol. First year in a while where we haven't been thinking about the draft already in late October so haven't really looked into the top 15-20 picks yet. Also the qb class is super weak so he probably will sneak up into 10-15
    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
