What are we doing in the draft?

I don't think it is out of the realm of possibility. I'm just not sure they trade for Sam if that is the case. Draft an elite LT prospect, and build around Sam for better or for worse.

I’m just not sold on Darnold and I don’t think we should be. If we trade or cut Teddy before draft don’t you think it would be good to draft Fields if he is there? Gives u two chances to get it right?

College Football GIF
So you are saying there is a chance?! (Dumb and Dumber GIF would work as well)

I'd be totally cool with getting Fields, it's just not up to me lol
I know I have said it before, but you really are in a no lose situation at 8.

I'd be totally happy with Darrisaw. Not as elite as Sewell or Slater but still a 10 year starter at LT.

Do you think he would fit in our scheme? I thought he was more of a man blocker. I see Leatherwood as a better fit for us. If we traded down I would think we'd look at him and then maybe try to get a guard in the 2nd. Maybe Davis or the OT Radunz? and move him to guard. We covet moving OL for our ZBS, no?

I know a lot can change in a month and a half, but according to Rodrigue we “love” Fields. Even with Darnold (unfinished question mark that cost us a 2nd rounder), would we not pounce on him at 8 if he really is a QB we “love?” I totally get drafting a LT, and Sewell and Slater are great. Sorry, Fields is my draft crush (obviously) and I’m struggling going all in on Sammy D...

Also with this, I am 100% convinced if Mac Jones fell to us we would have taken him and this board would have exploded haha.

If Fields falls to 8 I'd take him. If not, I'd prefer to trade down like Rhule apparently wanted to do last year. Not a pundit but depending on how far they move down Darrisaw and Sam Cosmi could be there. I think the risk is worth it to move down in order to get more opportunities to fill holes in the roster.

And a few players like Dyami Brown and Elijah Molden could fall due to slightly slower than expected 40 times and other players testing better. More chances to get good players.

If we drafted a QB at 8 now it would be the first move that I really didn't like this entire off season.

If it’s Fields you will like it! He is going to be special. Darnold will be our backup we can develop/save his career. Imagine Tepper demanding a new QB and Fitts being like “How about two?” At the end of the day we would have lost our 2nd, but got our QB of the future and a backup with potential. If we traded our 2nd next plus 4th and 6th to get Fields no one would have blinked.

I think Fields will be a bust. I have said it often around here. I do not think Fields will be good in the NFL. I would rather have Lance.

    • We need a Sam Off Ball Backer to pair with Lloyd. Lloyd is a strong Interior Will especially in Pass Coverage- but that is also Trevin Wallace’s archetype. Need a Rozeboom style run stopper. Rodriguez and Allen fit that
    • There aren’t that many ways to screw Day 2 up.  That’d be them making an obvious reach, or selecting at one of the few positions that we are pretty solid at. Because as excited as we are for the growth and improvement this team is showing, it’s still not an overly talented or deep roster. Honestly, there aren’t really many positions I’d feel bad about. Feelings about Bryce aside (because we are not going to select a QB), it’s really RB (bad positional value) and that’s it. I guess OT too since we grabbed Freeling in Round 1.    While not as high on my wish list as other spots, you can justify WR or TE.     Interior offensive lineman who would likely take over an interior spot either this year (at center) or guard (next for cap casualty of Hunt or Lewis)? Fine by me.   Dlineman? Yes, that’s a highly rotational position and we have zero quality depth.    ILB? Yep, could stand for an upgrade over Wallace.    EDGE? Absolutely wouldn’t hate another option to spell Phillips, Scourton, and Princely.    FS?  Would love to add better coverage skill set to the backend of the defense. Moehrig and Ransom are great in run support but not as good deep. Adding a more traditional FS would allow us to mix and match/run some 3 safety sub packages and or a big nickel type look with a SS down near the line for better run support in possible pass downs.    CB? Could stand to get better at nickel.
    • Sounds like Veesaar is entering the draft. He could always test the waters and pull out and return but without him our big men look like a serious liability. Better do something in the portal. If they don't do something about this portal madness my days as a college sports fan are probably numbered. This bullshit of having a nearly entirely new team every season is gonna get old fast.
