How good are the top rookies?

Recommended Posts

This is not a madden conversation, per say, but when I create my draft classes, I usually make most of the first round guys high 70ovr to low to mid 80ovr with an occasional freak at 90ovr. My theory is some of these guys come out being top five at their position in the league and I think that is a fair analysis.

At what point do you guys see that cliff from mid 80ovr to mid 70ovr?

What are steals in the later rounds worth? Should Tom Brady have been an 80ovr from the beginning?

Please keep this civil. I'm simply curious on how we actually view our rookies, relative to the og's already in the league.

Phil Hoskins 73

If that was the "real life" results, it would probably be one of the greatest draft classes in NFL history

Proceeds to make it a Madden conversation.

Don't they start players lower these days? Fizzled out of most vid games in the early 2010s minus skating & nba2k.

Figure skating? EA Sports Scott Hamilton 2021?

How the hell are we supposed to know this before we see them play?

Rookies always get the stank face when they see their madden rating.

and THAT is my point. It's a madden thread for sure.. but i'm curious where people feel the top of the draft should be rated. Like your top five players should be, if not busts, what? upper 80's?

I haven't played since PS3.  However, I might put my top pick in the 70s.  The gotta have room to grow.

    • I'm looking at the schedule and I see a 10+win season easy.  I think Carolina goes undefeated in the division.  I also believe that the Bears, Bengals, Lions, Browns, Steelers are very winnable.  Revenge game with phillips and the eagles could be a win.  Honestly only 2 games I see as chalking up a L to off the bat is the Seahawks and Broncos.
    • I guess so. Don't think I was involved with previous discussions.  Tepper is one of the newest owners in the NFL. Dan is going into his 3rd season as a GM - ever. Dave is going into his 3rd season as a HC - ever. Before becoming a HC, he was an OC/playcaller for one season total. Idzik is about to go into his 1st year as a play caller - ever. WRs are rookies, sophomores and 3rd year guys - though the experienced 3rd year guys are XL and Coker (who has missed a ton of games). TEs are guys going into their 2nd and 3rd seasons, and Tommy Tremble - though Sanders has missed a ton of games. QB has played 3 years. Chuba is an experienced RB, but Brooks and Etienne have taken very little snaps at the position. O-line is more experienced vets with some talent - which is HUGE. Need them to stay healthy. I mean the offense is very young in every aspect except O-line. You see it differently?
