Is Denzel Perryman the Carolina Panthers’ most underrated player?

Maybe but he had 5 of those sacks in one game. He also didn’t record a single sack in 9 games. Maybe he’s a one hit wonder? I mean there is something up when a guy in his prime gets 12.5 sacks and can only get a one year 6 million dollar deal. I hope he is going to get better and repeat similar numbers but his size scares me and I don’t know how we are going to use him.

The possibility of him being a one hit wonder combined with an odd salary cap year coming off a pandemic season is why no one was willing to bet big on him. The Cardinals played him out of position for three seasons. When they finally let him rush the passer instead of drop back he shined. He's an undersized pass rusher, he's not an off the ball LB. Rhule and Snow know him well having coaches him at Temple. I'm not worried about them having to figure out how to use him.

D.J. Moore is the Carolina Panthers’ most underrated player. Back-to-back 1000-yard seasons with Kyle Allen and Teddy Bridgewater as his main passers, and yet NFL media don’t consider him a top-30 WR and half the fanbase thinks he’s not even a WR2.

I have no stats to back this up but agree 100%.  Glad you beat me to this.

Honestly, I'm taking a wait and see approach to this season, the players and the coaching. We could be great, we could be lousy, we could have some new stars, we could be a team of JAGs.

After last season, who can really tell? 2020 was a trainwreck year in the real world and a big bunch of meh on the football field. We had games where we were close, we had games where we were just disappointing, we had one game where we were pretty dominant. We had some turn over, we had some interesting/questionable movement in the draft.

Me, I can't wait for the regular season to start and see what we've got -- players and coaches alike. There's so much hype for the coaching and new players here and so little attention outside of this board that I'm honestly wondering what we do have. Rhule could be a great team builder, or he could be totally over his head. Snow could be a great old school defensive coach or he could field another defense that plays like a bunch of old ladies. Brady could be an offensive genius or he could be a guy who can call a game between the 20s but not adjust to smaller field space and pro defenses.

Who knows? Darnold could get a great restart here or he could be damaged goods. Horn could be the CB we've needed since Gamble left, or he could get burned in the pass-happy NFCSouth. Burns could become a beast on the national stage or our lead DE could grab another 9-ish sacks and be a middle of the pack contender. We just do not know.

I just hope it all pans out. We could use not just a good season, but a playoff run around here.

Most likely some mixture.  I think we had so many close games with good teams, we might be on the cusp and we're hoping that Darnold is a ticket to the next tier.

I'm more excited for the change than anything else.  I like the glimpses we've seen of what the head coach, new oc, new dc, new GM, Derick Brown and Jeremy Chinn can do.

On paper we have an upgraded secondary, d-line, and LBs.  On offense a healthy CMC is an upgrade and Tremble/Arnold combo will probably be better than Thomas.

Oline and QB are huge question marks.   Darnold should be better than Bridgewater.  We've at least added depth to the Oline.  If QB and oline get in sync and Darnold plays like a #3 pick, we are going to be a good team.

Amen.
