admittedly this is the least I have studied these prospects/watched college basketball in my adult life, but do people not like the kid from Duke anymore, Johnson?

Too many ? Mark's since he opted out.. Resume is lacking..

I'll agree to disagree about Barnes.. I think his size 6'9 , length 7'2 reach  ball handling, defense of all 5 position makes him a can't miss.. At worst you get a taller longer Draymond.. At best you get Scottie Pippen..

I agree on Jones he needs more development and drafting him is a help later not now move.. But the potential is there..

Bouknight I thought the same thing with his similarity with Monk.. But he is taller longer not the athlete or explosiveness but the better defender and ball handlers already...

And I love Moody too.. Right size right skill set would instantly fit..

The Dook and state guys Johnson and funderburk were in clt for workouts…either one of them worth taking?

I'm not a fan of Jalen Johnson - but he is in play for the #11 pick.. to elaborate: he has athleticism and playmaking ability but not a good enough shooter and not sure about his character:

Quote

Goodman doubled down on his speculation on Monday night when the news broke, stating that there have been “off-court issues” between Johnson’s camp and the Blue Devils.

Johnson has been coming off the bench since Duke fell to Miami (FL) on February 1, and after playing 24 minutes off the bench in a loss to North Carolina, he played a combined 23 minutes in a loss to Notre Dame and victory over North Carolina State.

Jalen Johnson dealt with the same controversy his senior year of high school when it looked like he would play for powerhouse IMG Academy (Fla.) before never stepping on the floor due to issues with his camp and the coaching staff.

Johnson transferred back to Nicolet (Wis.), where he played as a junior, to complete his senior year.

Jalen Johnson would have been a one-and-done at Duke. There’s no secret about that, but the way in which he is leaving is cowardly.

The Blue Devils are struggling, in the midst of their worst season in nearly three decades, playing in the middle of a pandemic, and he decides to make a business decision and leave now.

A cowardly move.

Funderburk would be lucky to get drafted..

1. Scottie Barnes

Physicality extreme measurables.. Best defender in the draft..  high floor with high upside.. Won't make it to us..

2. James Bouknight

Super athletic, super scorer, super fit with Melo..

3. Moses Moody..

Great shooter, all around guard, good fit with Melo...

4. Kia Jones..

Potential, potential,  potential.. Won't be much help his rookie year.. But could develop into a franchise type 4/5..

5. Keon Johnson..

Really good perimeter defender who is the best athlete in this draft.. Needs work on his offensive game..

Great post. Thank you.

    • I have a hard time imagining us making any changes mid-season no matter how bad it gets. Tepper is impulsive. But a) there's nothing to be gained by making a change 3 weeks into a season, you're already signaling your season is over. Is someone really going to step in at this point and turn things around? Anyone in the league? Or even CFB, because I don't think Bellichick could step in and right this ship. So the best we could hope for, is someone like Wilks to step in, boost morale enough to win a few meaningless games and ruin our chances at a top pick, and then have the wheels fall off again. And b) Tepper has proven that he is capable of learning some lessons. We really haven't heard much out of that clown recently. Certainly not as much as we used to the first few seasons. And by this I mean I think he knows he has a reputation. And no quality coach wants to go and work for the impulsive, meddlesome owner who repeatedly fires coaches midseason. We've already got to be the least attractive landing spots in the NFL with the absolute dearth of talent, conditioning, and playing surface that will keep players healthy. So the best thing to do is at least pretend that he's ready to stay out of the way. So either way, IMO the smart play is you let this play out all season.  Let these suckers go down with the ship, and if a regime change is needed, you wait til the end of the season to make a change.
