You are guessing that he is close to done. You also have no idea what they were thinking. You are speculating, and trying to make it sound good.  The fact is, you are willing to bet that Rodgers is done. I'm not.

Love was a waste of a pick. Rodgers is no where near done. And GB is a poorly run Org. That got lucky and had 2 HOF QBs. Speculation, with a couple of facts thrown in.

And what did they get for 30 years of HOF QB play? 2 SBs. Yeah, model team there.

Do you think Panther fans would stand for that? 30 years, and only 2 SBs.

Rodgers is already the third oldest MVP winners in NFL history. Like I said, Father Time is undefeated. It's really no a controversial concept to suggest that it's strongly likely that Rodgers begins to decline soon.

It was also year two of a new system with a new coach. That’s usually when jumps happen. Had they got him a weapon with the Love pick who knows if they beat the Bucs in the NFC game. I just don’t think HoF QBs need a rookie to re-energize them. The whole Favre thing was a mess also and he jumped ship and led their rivals to the playoffs. Rodgers might be doing something similar next year.

Here's what I know for sure. For all my life the Packers have been a competitive organization. Odds are that'll continue. Meanwhile, we're Panthers fans. We really don't get to question the decisions of organizations like the Packers, Steelers, Patriots, etc. Their track record speaks for itself.

Dang that's one crappy analogy. You just wasted a salesman's time. Not even close to what happened.

Is it truly that hard for you to believe someone else was interested in Sam?

Would you drive down to the lot to ask about the  rusted out pinto?

That's the point.  Multiple teams thought Darnold was a brand new Corvette.

Oh there is no comparison between the two. The Packers have been heads above us as an organization. However as a fan of football I can still be critical. Going for the FG in the NFC Championship Game was a dumb decision, see I did it again. I also think the Pats look bad parting with Brady. Are both organizations better ran than ours? Yep, but we can still be critical of certain decisions. I still make fun of the Seahawks for not handing the ball off to Lynch and throwing a pick on the one yard line.

Interested enough to kick the tires and not make an offer? No, it's not. Teams make contingency plans too. I don't think Darnold was anyone else's primary plan at any point this off-season.

No they didn't. They thought there might be a scenario where he was better than their current rusted out pinto. Kinda like the guy looking at the rusted out pinto because his current ride is spewing smoke and sounding like someone shaking a coke can full of gravel. Yeah, it might suck but damn, it's gotta be better than what I have right now.

Fields looked like the best QB in whole draft one game then a UDFA in the next game against a weaker defensive. I HATE those types.

Last year Northwester was 5th in PPG Against. Indiana was 19th. Those were his two bad games. Northwestern had a Safety lead the league with 6 INTs despite only playing 9 games. Indiana lead all of the NCAA in interceptions. In the Indiana game Fields put up just under 400 yards and 3 TDs to go along with those 3 INTs he threw. That's also completely dismissing what was something like 20+ players sitting out and like 8 starters.

Even with the guys that were practicing one week and then having to sit the next due to covid, I won't dismiss Fields poor showing against Northwestern. That was a game with no real positives for him.

But if you judge simply off of a covid season where one week you are playing and the next you aren't and ignoring his entire 2019 that's where the mistake is made. But people did similarly with Wilson. Ignore his previous seasons and chalk them up to being injured/healing and just look at his magical 2020 against trash tier comp.

The only one that was super hard to read was Lance as he was a young guy not asked to throw a ton and then didn't even really play last year. Hard to know if that would help or hurt him.

I wanted Fields too. But here's the thing. Flip the script and have Zach Wilson available at #8 and he absolutely would've been the pick. At the end of the day, all we really know for sure about the Panthers' opinion of Justin Fields is that they ranked him below Jaycee Horn.

I think that is a bit too simplistic of a conclusion.  We preferred Horn over Field with Darnold on the roster.  We had already invested resources into Darnold.

You and I might have picked Fields anyway ,but a lot of teams once they trade for a QB like we did, aren't going to draft another guy, they feel like they wasted those draft picks they used for the trade.  I'm not convinced we would have took Wilson at that point if he had magically fell.

If we had lost to WFT and were picking 3rd, do we still trade for Darnold?  Would we have picked Horn at 3 over Fields if we don't have Darnold?  I can't say for  100% we would have.

On a serious note, what ranks Wilson above Fields? Arm talent is a wash, Fields is bigger and had more success against better competition for a longer period of time without the shoulder injury. I can’t figure out why a lot of people have Wilson so much higher than Fields. Not really Panthers related, but just confuses the hell out of me…

Right or wrong, there seemed to be this idea that Fields struggled with the processing part of playing QB, holding the ball too long or not getting to second reads.

If you looking at which QB was best from throwing from point A to point B, than Fields was the best prospect in the draft, even better than Trevor.  His accuracy was off the chart, along with plus arm strength.  The athletic ability was just another bonus.

I think when it is all said it done teams might have overthought Fields, also I think Wilson might have higher bust potential than a lot think.

Seriously?

With  the annual new car sale coming up where newer, value priced models, with 5 year price guarantee, you'd say, naaah,  I want my family in that crap car?

So the 9ers went, "Well he sucks, lets call about seeing if he'd be our QB."

Whatever.

You only call if you're interested.
smh

With 2 HOF QBs! You better be competitive. Give the Panthers 2 HOF QBs, I bet were competitive too. Does not make them some model franchise. They've had 2 HOF QBs, and pissed them both off.

You still have no idea do you? You cannot see others points of view. You are stuck in this loop, and you are happy as punch. It's just unfathomable to you, that Sam had value to other teams.

Show me the offers. Show me reports of the offers. There were no reports of any other actual offers. Teams talk all the time. Teams explore options all the time. Darnold didn't have enough value to any other team to illicit any other offer. That's what the information available screams. If you have another point of view, fine. But I'd like to see what you're basing it on.

You were shown a tweet earlier that showed other teams inquiring. The Jets were not ready to deal, so no deal was done. Then the Panthers came calling, and the Jets were ready to deal.

And here we are. You refusing to see past your own view. Why don't you show us where you got this "No one came calling" slant?
