I get that, but this staff is going to find us a QB. If it's obvious it's not Darnold, they'll move on quickly. We could end up like the Bucs. Stacked roster, find the missing piece, then championships. It would be even better if we won a SB with our own young QB rather than a geriatric rental that's going to have his number retired up North.

Absolutely key point on the QB…the Rhule/Fitty era depends on QB.  I think they realize that

Fitty has shown us already how to get talent.  A franchise QB is a tough get though

I just hate the process, which would be even more frustrating if some of the QBs of the 2021 draft turn out to be really special. Darnold would be whiff number two in as many years if you believe they'll move quickly in the event that he fails.

Agreed. I still get pissed that the team site posted that the depth was 2-5 years ahead of us…… QB aside.  What a joke esp after Fitty nailed his first draft with us

Not putting a ton of stock in preseason, but our 2s did outplay the Colts’ 2s (and some of their starters I believe)... Pretty ridiculous to suggest we could be “5 years behind them.”

It isn't at all ridiculous. Not only are they more deep and more talented but much more importantly, far more experienced. 2-5 years behind them isn't hard to believe at all.

I would not be the least bit surprised if we have a better record than the Colts this year.

    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
    • This thread is dumb. But I do think canales gets too cute with play calling and I don't think he's a good coach
    • 2 bad teams played yesterday and one lost. Both teams are still bad today. Bryce is a big part of that. It wouldn't have been a close game if DC would have just gone rage rushing from the start.  The Panthers would look so much better with just decent WB play. No way to avoid that fact.
