...another Jets reclamation project....jesus...

What's there to reclaim when he never even saw the field once?

I view it as him not being damaged to the point of being David Carr'd by virtue of him holding a clipboard / being on the PS.

I think you are having a different discussion. It's not about making up a new offense. It's about knowing the types of routes that will be run regularly and positioning the defense favorably.

I think it's largely having the talent to execute things properly and whose has the better talent when doing such.

I mean, the entire time Luke was here he knew the majority of the plays coming at him and positioned our D favorably for it.   NFL is more about talent lining up beating people and executing....than fooling them IMO.

Opponents are largely going to know what the other is doing.

Definitely.   You dont have to reinvent the wheel but you do try to disguise what you're doing and confuse the defense to make mistakes.  Going by multiple db's on other teams saying they knew the routes that were coming, that's obviously not happening.  Whose fault that is is a different question that I think is divided up between a handful of people.

    • To me, this seems like they feel they aren't going to be competitive. I can't help but go back to Bryce. Good guy, but he doesn't inspire people to give it their all. He isn't a "leader" that people look to. There is no Smith, Delhomme, Kuechly, Cam, etc. coming in that door.  It has to be Bryce, but biologically speaking, how often is the shortest man in the room going to command the kind of respect that will drive people? It just isn't. That isn't how we are wired. That isn't how any living animal on Earth today is wired.  I just follow the science guys.
    • Vick's issue with Reid was that he couldn't take a hit, and he wouldn't go down. Otherwise he was pretty good much of the time.  Mahomes has a system that works. Mahomes doesn't become Mahomes elsewhere because not everyone can extract 125% of the ability of a specific player like Reid can. Kevin O'Connell is beginning to look like he has that ability as well but I'll need to see how he does with his Redshirt Freshman.  I also wonder how much of their playoff issue last year was related to the offense as a whole and not just Darnold. Fans don't really dive into the "why" things happen, they just see the what and complain about it.
