Announcer incompetence

Play by play guy just watched McCaffrey run for 5 yards, get tackled, then declares he was Ameer Abdullah.

Can't even get the player right when he's a star and of a different race than his backup.

This after listening to them get down and distance wrong multiple times in the first half.

You get paid very well to talk about a game for a living.

Literally anyone can do it.

Why networks don't yank these guys and fire them when they repeatedly make mistakes is beyond me.

You can't get names and basic facts right on national TV?

We'll find someone who can. Such professional incompetence/laziness by the networks.

What a stupid crybaby post. I bet WFNZ could shove a microphone in your face and you’d get pulled off the air in 5 minutes.

Earlier in the game they declared Meyers were Jones favorite red zone target. He is the guy who set the record for most catches and yards without ever scoring a touchdown lol

For you to call ANYONE else a crybaby after the way you poo posts because you got embarrassed two years ago in an argument is hilarious. You have the emotional maturity of a 4 year old. You are THE definition of a crybaby. No one gives a rip what you say. Now do your crybaby poo and go back to your hole.

Yeah, really makes you wonder what these guys do all week to prepare for the game. Based on what I'm hearing, literally nothing is my guess.

Blame CBS not covering the NFC moreso than they not being good announcers.  they don't see these names often in their coverage.

Most of Fox's guys who we get stuck dealing with are little better. You do nothing for a living but talk about a game that happens once per week. You have all week to prepare. Mispronouncing the very LAST guy on the roster's name should be inexcusable. Does anyone really think these guys put the time in studying the rosters?

I mean they can't even get basic information that is on my screen right like current down and distance. Practice your craft instead of doing more shots at a bar and telling stories about the good ole days.  You know why I know it can be done well? Because a minority of guys do it perfectly competently. Who works at their craft and who doesn't is blatantly obvious in that game. But the incompetent guys tend to keep their jobs because they have the right hair or playing career pedigree.

Whatever. IMO basketball commentators have a much more challenging job with the fluid ongoing on court action and most of them run laps around NFL commentators. It can be done, it just takes effort. Tired of NFL commentators phoning in bad work week after week without consequence.

Nah, I watch a lot of football, the CBS crews are just as shitty at calling AFC games too. Romo’s team is the only outlier

I was indifferent to Romo as a player, but found the way he retired classy, and regard him as the best commentator out there by a pretty wide margin. He's the one that proves it can be done and done well, leaving all the chuckleheads no real excuse.

    • The division is most certainly wide open. The Bucs are a problem but Baker Mayfield is and will remain his own worst enemy it's a matter of when not if he has a bad game or even a stretch of bad games. As far as the Panthers they have done an admirable job of trying to address needs as best they can without pulling a Scott Fitterer and getting desperate which has only made us worse off in the past. On the Bryce subject all anyone can really say at this point is we just have to wait and see. This is the year and despite what the Panthers may say publicly doubling down and going all in on WR is as good as any sign anyone should need that they expect Bryce Young to have a very productive and convincing season. The pieces are in place. They aren't perfect but nothing ever will be. Regardless there's honestly no excuse for this staff and this team not to be able to compete in this iteration of the NFC South. Also just want to say this because I can say the hyper defensive posts already being made in here and it's probably going to be a season with highs and lows again but hopefully more highs for sure. But just because there is dialogue about a position group or a player that challenges your preconceived notions or makes you uncomfortable does not make it "hate" or "anti" this player or that player. For some people who talk a lot about nuance you would think this wouldn't need to be stated but that's where we're at.
    • If I was a coach I would preach "Don't let the refs decide the game" because as soon as you let the NFL the chance to help their bottom dollar whether it be teams that make most money or gambling then they will screw the team that doesn't fit their bottom line......is it rigged? No but do they try and make certain narratives happen abso-freakin-lutley. As I stated in a previous thread NFL players are the ones that SHOULD have all guaranteed contracts but the boot lickers on this forum disagree and argue for the billionaires in this world who own these teams, sheep
    • I wont go quite so far as to say games are rigged.  You wouldnt have to work hard to convince me there was the occasional thumb on the scale but outright rigged? nah.   but collusion on the rest of the "business" of football, sure.  No one really believes that the only time the 32 owners act as one is during the negotiations of the CBA do they?
