Have you not seen Sam Darnold play? Your post indicates you have not.

He is not capable of playing QB in the NFL. At all.

This isn't new information. This is now 3+ years old information.

I unfortunately sat in section 124 all season watching Sam Darnold

what QB in this system under this coach with this OLine has looked capable of playing QB for a sustained period of time?

None of us want Sam for the long term. We all know we need someone else to lead us the rest of the decade if we intend to be successful.

We're saying that if we're paying 18 mil he might as well play until we (hopefully) find a replacement after 2022.

I don't think a top FA will want to come here next season. We don't have a promising QB on the roster, and this is a down year in terms of top college QB prospects. It is suppose to be a good year for lineman. Use our picks there and roll with Darnold in 2022. The QB job will much more desirable in Carolina if a new QB had a good blocking line protecting him.

Why is this so hard to understand lol

If we with Darnold in 2022, we will be in contention for the #1 overall draft pick, so I guess that is desirable, ultimately. I guess the question is, once Rhule is fired, will the damage be so bad that we will have to rebuild all over again? Will be stuck in Browns/Bengals territory for a decade or more?

That sounds reactionary but we are technically less accomplished franchises than either of them and are teetering on the ledge. It won't take much of a push to send us there.

Oh Sam has a worse chance to win that Cam, that's not even a real debate anymore.

But the odds of winning with a non-P5 caliber coaching staff are definitely low regardless.

Not sure I agree that Sam is worse than Cam who is really struggling. The desire is there but the passing isn't. If Sam plays like he did the last several games he shouldn't be anything but a backup and only because we had to keep him as he gets paid regardless. Otherwise he needs to go too. But we have nothing to lose playing Darnold and if he sucks our draft position is great.

I'd say Cam has done very well coming off the couch to learn a crap system. Rhule is struggling.

How do you get thats not a debate?  Sam started the season 3-0 and put up big numbers in week 4.  Cam is 0-12 in his last 12 starts.  It's time for some fans to acknowledge that NEITHER of these qbs are going to carry a team to victory at the present time.

Of course it isn't a debate because I have functional eyes and a functional brain. Sam Darnold has been the worst QB in the NFL for almost 4 seasons now. That's statistically accurate.

Cam is a shell of himself but almost any QB or backup QB in the NFL is better than Sam Darnold.

Feel free to think otherwise but I assume you also thought Jimmy Clausen just didn't get the right opportunities.

    • With the contract money an OT first rounder makes you can ALWAYS get a new girlfriend.  And probably an upgrade at that.  You only got 2 parents.
    • Brother. You are wholly confusing comparing situations and applying actual standards like most other franchises do like simply getting into a playoff series and winning at least 1 or 2 series games with praising. Nobody is praising the Hawks. Nobody is praising the Magic. Nobody here likes those teams. But reality is reality. The Hawks like other franchises have traded players fired coaches etc but they can still win a couple playoff games. How is that not the bare floor for you or anyone else? What are we doing here if it isn't? We've seen eye to eye on many things over the years. But you are in the camp on the Hornets where you are emotionally attached to LaMelo where you feel the need to carry his water like he's got that juice. That's cool that you feel that way. It's your prerogative. But I differ from that viewpoint entirely. If he had that juice we would not have gotten wiped off the court in 2 play in games with 2 different coaching staffs and rosters. if people don't like hearing that well I'm sorry but how the hell is this team ever going to get better and ultimately go anywhere in the postseason if we just blindly pat them on the back for getting their asses whooped before they actually even get into the real playoffs? There seem to be some Bryce Young level standards being applied here. That's wild to me. But to each his own.
    • Proctor/Freeling were always the belles of the ball where we were picking. What those two *could* become at OT was far greater than what others could be at their respective positions and I’m glad our FO could see that.
