Trevor Penning 6'7 320  Northern Iowa OT/  OG..

Needs work will be beat by speed rushers alot probably needs to move to guard to start his career... But if you want your Oline to have a Culture of nastiness.. This is bbn your guy.. He gets his hands on ppl and mortal kombat "finishes them".. He will get some penalties and hes looking to fight.. But you want a mean running game this is the mauler elite..

That's a big boy! I will take one of him at guard for a later round pick and a top tier left tackle in the first round

I'm telling you what I seen on his highlight video's and at the senior bowl practice is "him getting in scuffles and shoving matches after every rep or play because he is trying to throw somebody down and them not liking it".. Almost 85% of his plays is him getting his hands on somebody and them going to the ground against their will and not happy about..

He will be getting some flags so who ever drafts him better tone him down a bit..

That's a great kind of nasty to have for an O-lineman I believe. If he can control that nasty and use it to his advantage he could be an awesome player.

Pass. Not disciplined. Penalty nightmare and uncontrolled pass blocking that will put a QB on the IR from being rolled up from DLs he tosses into the pocket after getting beat around the corner.

Strong and nasty blocker. However, he does not process rushers fast enough and he has a significant lack of awareness.

1st play he goes offsides.

He misses his blocking assignments often and just hits random people to put them on the ground while his assignment makes the tackle. This is routing for Penning.

Can you coach it out of him? He is a project that will be frustrating for most coaches.

Be careful what you wish for.

    • At the moment? Absolutely not. Maybe if they drop the next three in a row and go into the deadline at 3-6 I can see an argument to be made to move Rico as he's on a 1yr deal. I'd rather keep Chuba's contract though and roll with ETN + JB next season. The team will have plenty of time to see how JB is looking going into the offseason a year-plus after his surgery to know whether or not they need to plan for another direction.
    • I forgot to mention my thoughts on the rushing grade! 😮 He ran his ass off both weeks. I can't remember the stat offhand but didn't he have something crazy like 120+ yards after contact vs. Dallas? Against Miami he had lanes as wide as the entirety of I-95 to run through which is why his rushing grade wasn't as high as this week's. He's ran like a man possessed and going to earn himself some money in the offseason.
    • I'm not sure how much I'm changing mid year, especially when we are seeing some success.    Most Pass Rushers are physically gifted. Scheme and personnel help, but you gotta have the Jimmys and Joes, especially at that position.    We will likely lose games when the other team can throw for 400 yards, and has multiple high level receivers, but I think at this point in the development of our franchise, we have to be ok with that. You can't address every single issue at once. Really looks like we have plugged some holes on offense, and definitely in run defense. In the next draft, if we hit on a CB, an ILB and a Pass rusher, we will be pretty dangerous.
