What's the upside? I could see more upside with a prospect dripping with physical talent who was raw as hell. At least there would be upside. I just think Zappe is probably as good as he's ever going to get because I don't think there's any addition physical ceiling there to strive for.

Chad Pennington-esque. He could be an upgrade as a #2 or #3 QB.

Definitely a guy I could see as a 4th or later gamble. But, like I said, I don't think we are that team.

If I was the GM, no way I would take him.

Honestly, I think Pennington had a much better arm. His arm was subpar at the NFL level but I honestly think Zappe's arm is significantly subpar at the college level.

I was really interested in seeing him and agree. Dissapointed.

K, so next dates up--Combine later in the month.  And then we look to March 17 & 25--Pickett & Corral's pro days will be the next big ones.

Next date is the HBCU Legacy Bowl on 19 Feb for scouts. Then the combine. Then pro days.

Yeah, it is possible. IMO, fairly equivalent but not a guy I would take.

As a Panthers fan, I would assume we have a top 30 grade on him.

It was Thursday. Here it is if you can't get it on demand. There was a topic here for it too Thursday night.

I'll check out the thread.

Too bad the Blue Grey went away. These kids need as many chances as possible to pad that resume.

Zappe put up video game numbers in college but he got exposed today as simply not an NFL QB. He doesn't have an NFL arm. I mean, not even close. I thought he was an intriguing mid-round pick prior to today. I honestly wouldn't draft him after today. I don't think he's a draftable prosect.

A lesser Tim Couch?

But is he worst than PJ Walker?

If that is the line, I think he makes sense for us.

Outside of that, absolutely makes zero sense.

It sucks to think of that being the standard to go by, but I suppose it legitimately is.

I honestly don’t think there’s one qb playing in this game who is worthy of a top 20 pick. If we skip out on getting a good tackle and take one of these guys instead I’m gonna lose my ****.

you can have the best line in football and still suck mightily ....we need a QB..... this year...next year or the year after...

    • You should because before the preseason fiasco and the start of the season fiasco, all the reports, including Frank’s responses, were that Fitterer and Reich were in lock step. Remember the press conference where Fitterer talked about both he and Frank saying who they wanted before and after the draft process and that they both picked Young and it was glorious? People got hung up on Tepper saying the point guard analogy in April when Brown was interviewed by a Panthers reporter describing how a QB needs to be a point guard in huge detail. That was in February. I think Tepper was just parroting Brown to make himself look like he knew what he was doing. Mrs. Tepper hugging Bryce always overshadowed CJ saying how he called her Mama Tepp. We fuged up as a team, probably more so because Fitterer always said he had Young as his #1 the year before, probably because we looked at all the QBs that year as well. Reich’s love for CJ started when he got on the hot seats for frankly doing a horrific job. He's been in the league a long time and has a lot of media friends and that was a face saving CYA which we know well with many years of Hurney. Still amazing to think how much better the team was under Rhule/Hurney before Fitterer got any control when Rhule was on the hot seat.
    • I loved jStew but let’s not forget he was almost always held out from practice  due to some nagging injuries
