OL vs QB, be carefull what you wish for

Sometimes you have to be careful what you wish for in life.

Honestly by being greedy and waiting to get a new QB we actually might increase our chances of not getting a rookie QB at all.

 

 

So you are basically saying we shouldn't make ourselves better this season for fears of not making ourselves another year? I mean, even if we do get our line together and people come back healthy and better than ever and we end with a 9-8 record, it doesn't take us out of the QB hunt. In fact it might possibly even put us in better position.

If we wanted to draft one, we would then have more space to trade up for one knowing that we don't have as much problems to fix and could afford to lose picks to make it happen. If we chose to hunt in FA then us looking like we are on the upturn and got our Line figured out for the first time in god knows how long would make us more attractive to the better FA QB's as well.

If you feel that strongly you should have fired him already.

I do agree though that if Tepper I'm not going to let him do something drastic such as spending a bunch of draft capital to move up or to overpay for a QB in free agency, but if there is a logical upgrade I'm not going to forego it just to prove a point.

 

 

When Rhule and co traded draft picks last season in the hope of expediting the rebuild they essentially sacrificed 2022 if things went belly up and unfortunately that’s what ended up happening. Now we are a team still full of holes with 19m tied to terrible QB and one pick in the top 100.

Tepper deciding to keep Rhule is also in a way sacrificing a season and depending on the moves Rhule makes to dig himself out of this mess we may be sacrificing 2023 and beyond.

I think in that scenario we offer Sam something like 2 for 25m with maybe 15m guaranteed.  Then draft a QB in 2023 and let him sit for a year before handing him the keys.

Panthers could be competitive this year.

Draft Aqeel Glass and Jack Coan at QB.

Draft Jack Wohlabaugh C and Zach Tom G.

Sign a vet guard with playoff appearances. Bring back Trai Turner?

Draft Ezra Gray RB/slot receiver/returner 

Draft Jacquez Ezzard WR/returner. He will be the #1 in a year.

Draft Dee Anderson hybrid WR/TE and Jelani Woods TE.

Draft John Ridgeway NT/DT and Haskell Garrett for DT/DE.

Draft Devin Lloyd MLB and James Houston IV DE/OLB/MLB.

Draft Markquez Bell FS.

Pair them with CMC, Abdullah, Moton, Christensen, Tremble, Moore, Anderson, Zylstra, Chinn, Horn, Gilmore, CJ, Donte, Shaq, Derrick Brown, and Burns.

All but Lloyd can be drafted in the 4th round or later. Glass may go in the 3rd round. Panthers need to trade down their 6th pick a couple times and take Lloyd in the mid to late 1st round. Then trade down to accumulate more 3rd day picks.

This will set the Panthers up to be competitive this season and fill a few holes in the 2023 offseason. Any players not listed could be used to gain draft capital too. All of these drafted players can and will be key contributors and gamebreakers in year 1. 

This will turn around the Panthers faster and seal a young culture of competitors, leaders, and winners who will out work many teams in the NFL while having fun and being thankful for every game... never giving up their starting spot on the field to anyone type of mentality.

Need 13 picks. If there is anyway the Panthers can trade Burns plus other players to get a late 1st, or early 2nd and 3rd/4th with Jermaine Johnson on the board, do it too!
