To be fair, Gruden had total control there.

Mayock should have had sense enough to stay in the booth then if he knew that was going to be the power dynamic. The only thing he had shown to be capable of is scouting. Taking Clelin Ferrell over Josh Allen, Devin White, or Rashan Gary? EVERYONE knew Ferrell wasn't worth 1st rounder, much less a top 5 pick. Embarrassing.

Correct.

A foreigner like me, relative new to the sport could see he was not a first rounder.. that was my third draft... I mocked him to the Raiders at 24 because all the chatter of them taking him... then picked at 4, also over Burns and Sweat... 🙈

I'd agree that was a huge mistake.

Gruden was pretty much in charge of everything, but he's got no problem with scapegoating someone else.

JMO...

Steelers fans are about to go thru years of what they dealt out in that division..

Where most division games they had the better QB on the field..

Now they have Andy Dalton and the rest of the division have MVP candidates..

Lmao!!

Breer on today's possible quarterback action...

So where will the action happen today? Because of the close relationship between Titans coach Mike Vrabel and Cincinnati coach Luke Fickell, Ridder’s name has been consistently connected to Tennessee, where Ridder could essentially take a redshirt year behind Ryan Tannehill, and the team could use it to work on his mechanics to see whether his accuracy might improve. The Titans moved down from No. 26 to No. 35, with 35 being the third pick tonight and a more appropriate spot to grab Ridder (Seattle’s also done homework on him).

On top of that, both the Falcons and Seahawks have been connected in recent weeks to Ole Miss’s Matt Corral (who’s got off-field questions for everyone to sort through), and those two have a pair of second-rounders each (Seattle’s at 40 and 41; Atlanta’s at 43 and 58). Washington’s another team to watch, at both 47 and 98. The Commanders have kicked tires on Liberty’s Malik Willis (whom Atlanta has checked out as well) and Howell.

That's one of the 3. Jacobs and Abram? I'd keep both of them for a 5th year.

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
