Honestly, this video makes it sound like most of it comes down to Wayne Gretzky being a little bitch. I don't care if you are the great one, you don't screw with a teenager's future.

I'm all for getting him out there but you have to give him a chance at least.  There's a huge difference between college competition and nfl competition.  Let's hope he catches on quickly. 

Agreed, but a stout O-line and a good running goes a long way towards "simplifying" a QB's reads (even if we do start the season with Sam). We made substantial improvements in both the line and RB's.

Yep. Of course I don't know for sure, but I think that there was a directed effort to blackball MC and destroy his career inasmuch as Gretsky (and his sphere of influence) was able. The thing is, though, is that talent and and potential dollar signs for big-time football programs is always going to take priority over past wrongs, whether they're real, imagined or fabricated. Of course it still takes a special kind of guy to overcome the obstacles and succeed.

I know it may seem like a fairly normal occurrence in the dynamics of amateur football, but the fact that Corral was able to maneuver the unfairness stemming from at least one of the powers-that-be trying to cut him off at the knees, should give Panthers fans some comfort. He's not your ordinary kid.

I was thinking something similar......although OK Corral is better than we hope to get out of Darnold or Walker.

They need to work with him on the pre-snap reads before trotting him out there.  Even in a simplified offense, if the opposing defense knows that is a problem, they will be shifting constantly to exploit it.

Reads are an issue I would expect with almost any young QB.

A lot hinges on the performance of the offensive line.  I'm expecting much early on to be honest.  But it has to look better than last season, right? I mean how could it possibly be worse?

Not "trouble" per se, Jon Snow, just taking the requisite time that a young QB legitimately needs become a credible pro QB while learning the necessary particulars of the job. This is but a normal part of transition.

Might not be an adequate choice of words I used to describe what he's going through.  In any case it has to become automatic for him and not have him thinking too much if that makes sense.

      Like many of the old heads, I’ve been here for a long time.  I got a lot of respect for everyone on this board for your dedication to this team.  We’ve all been through it during the tougher years. At this point in life, I’m not one to judge anyone’s level of dedication, or their reasons why anymore.  Time, and a lot of bad football, will do that.  For me, it’s simple.  We share a common bond.  For that, I love and appreciate all of you crazy SOB’s. For me, last season was at a minimum, entertaining.  BY lead a young team to multiple come from behind 4th qtr wins.  That showed me heart, and that he has the clutch gene.  That’s the wildcard intangible.  For me, that was fun to watch even  if it was mindbogglingly frustrating at times.  Over the past two seasons, we have progressively built a better team around him.  On paper, the defense should be better this season.  That’ll help.  Let’s see what he can do as the other guys continue to develop too.  Besides, his contract is cheap for a few more years, and we just made some smart cap decisions during the draft. Let’s see how it shakes out.

      I would very much liked to have seen Jake Delhomme's career if Tommy Jone no hurt Jake.  I just know that roster and the leadership were destined to hit paydirt but Jake was never the same after the elbow injury, and unfortunately he was the sole reason they didn't make it back to the big one.  I think that 08 team was the best in the league, and Jake masked his inability well all season til the Arizona game put it all on display.  I'll go back to the season prior even and say the 07 team was primed to be a competitor.  Jake was off to a fantastic start that year (for a Panthers QB).  They may have been a championship caliber club for a few seasons after 08 too.
