You can get away with saying dumb things if you're a winning coach.

Heck, if you're just getting started, you might even get away with losing some games if you actually say the right things.

But if you're losing and on top of that you say really stupid things?

Oy 😬

Hopefully Tepper will rule as not an NFL coach and fire him before the season starts.

Typical huddle constructing it's own bullshit reality and then getting upset about it.

To you people in the local and national sports media the pro sources who have years of experience in the league and all the fans who are critical are just blinded by their dislike of Matt Rhule. It's all a conspiracy to make him look bad right?

hyberbole much?  And rhule just fuging said by getting more reps it helps you get better Jesus dude

He did but he also said that whatever you get you need to maximize what you do. That doesn't mean he was criticizing him because he has no delusion that Corral could start right now. Simply said what he would say about anyone. You know, 1% better every day. Maximize your opportunities. Typical coach speak.

Your HC just said that players only get better with more reps… pick a side my guy.

He also isn't focused on getting Corral  ready to start. Baker and Darnold are getting reps. What part of that is so hard to figure out. And McAdoo is making the decisions not Rhule.

Maybe, just maybe, Rhule & staff believes that from what they've seen from Corral, he isnt ready for more reps just yet. So they gave him limited live game play that wouldn't break his confidence but gain experience during his development...

Given the way Rhule looks at other spots like Baker\Sam, our C situation, Brady going from not having the tools to play LT to keeping our top 10 LT out of the spot to date….I’d say it is a tough sell.

Think the most obvious take is Rhule has a pointless mess in front of Corral and Corral suffers from that.  You got dudes like 89 saying it’s clear watching that Corral is a stud that needs reps/time to develop.

Rhule has fantasy competitions that aren’t real.   That’s the story.  Corral is part of trickle down effect.  There are others.   Like Baker and Bozeman not working together all off-season and figuring it out in season pointlessly, etc.  But we got college Rhule out there screwing around not able to figure out the clear cut best players.

Why are other teams doing it completely differently then?

how many other teams played 4 qbs yesterday?

its pointless to argue with guys still in rhules camp at this juncture, their argument lacks complete commonsense

If Corral starts this year then we are going to be in the running for a top 3 pick.  Care to take a guess what position they would probably draft in that scenario?

You should know that every team does what they think is best for them. And that every year is completely different with different players and staff.  Feel free to ask the old guy or email Rhule to see the rationale. My point in this thread has been simply to point out what seems obvious to me that others seemed so confused about. You can argue you hate the plan but clearly there is one.

    • As a Penn State alum I was excited to see everyone return, truth is I think we came into the year a bit over confident coming off last season. Had a slow start and poor depth at LB once Rojas went down, and once Franklin was fired the season was essentially over. From a character perspective DDS is a 10/10 guy, hardworking and incredibly loyal. Nobody expected him to return for his senior year, but he did to try win us a Natty. He also played the entire bowl game this year against Clemson which is rare to see as a high end senior prospect.
    • Both of New England's TDs were scored when Maye went into "wing it and fling it" mode. As Deac said, when he did run, he ran well.  And, while some of the criticism of Sam Darnold may be warranted, Super Bowl history is littered with QBs who didn't light up the scoreboard but still came away with championships. Matter of fact, ever seen the list of Super Bowl winning QBs who didn't even throw a TD pass? Namath SB3, Griese SB8, McMahon SB20, Aikman SB28, Elway SB32, Roethlisberger SB40, Peyton Manning SB 50, Brady SB53.
    • Nope. Don't do that. We need an infusion of talent, not going all in one prospect. Especially a pass rusher. We already drafted two in the 2nd last year and they usually take 2-3 years of development. We should honestly try to add an impact vet there in free agent and focus elsewhere in the draft. We don't need more young developmental talent there. We have that. We need someone who can step in and add an impact day one.
