What did Carrol do to Geno Smith? Maybe the old coot has plenty of gas left in his coaching tank after all.

Carrol is a decent coach. Yes, he was cheating like crazy and broke damn near every rule in the book at USC, and is responsible for arguably the worst playcall in the history of the Super Bowl, but if he took over the Panthers they might make the playoffs.

Of course he is a good coach, had great teams that were great opponentsto hate on and play. It just looked like he was running out of gas. I get trading Russ after the drama and cap restrictions from his contract but to go into the year with Smith and not blink to this is just impressive. Lots of talk about him being close to hanging it up. Looks like he has plenty of fight left.

Geno always was able. Just never was on the right team.

I never thought Gino was close to this level of competency. Physically talented but not dialed in with any understanding or comand of the offense.

The tape may change things in the big picture but he looks to be having the game of his life.

I mean he looked pretty good coming in cold last season. 5td to 1int. He basically just sat on the bench for the last 6 years, obviously sees the game better now than at 23 years old playing for the Jets

    • Yup. Hopefully  Brandon adds some muscle this off-season but he'll probably be resting his shoulder for a while so I doubt it. Miles should probably be replaced but I don't think we find a better 4th option to be honest. So is it better to add depth along side williams and Coby or try to upgrade the 4/5 . I think adding depth will probably be more beneficial than trying to upgrade starters and bank on Brandon and Kons continuing development. I really don't think they are going to make the playoffs unfortunately. I think the big hole they put themselves in has exhausted them. They've been amazing since January 1 but I think it's come at a cost and their legs are gone.
    • The issue is the predictability of it all in a Bryce Young led offense. In 4th down attempts the Jets were at 41 and we were at 40. And we were 4th in conversation %. We were 25th in the league in 3rd down conversion because we faced so many 3rd and longs in part due to playcalling on 1st and 2nd down but more largely due to the limitations that cannot be overcome.  And people want us to spend another 1st rounder on WR as if it is going to magically give Bryce physical talent he will never possess. It's a shame we cut off our own nose just to put ourselves in this frustrating predicament.
