HC: Matt Rhule
OC: Dan Henning
DC: Eric Washington

The real dream team.

Can’t agree with Henning. He wasn’t great but pretty good veteran offensive play caller. Jeff Davidson was worse. And if you want to go back further, Joe Pendry.

Eric Washington wasn’t anywhere near ready to be a DC. I blame that on Rivera. Good DL coach though which is his forte.

Well, with Marty on the job, I’d give Tepper a mulligan. I don’t have faith in him but I don’t have faith in Fitterer either. More than half his career was as a scout and everything else has been under Carroll and Schneider. He was still an area scout when Carroll was hired so  I doubt he had anything to do with a coach search. I’ve been worried that he’s got one view of how to do things and until we get our Russell Wilson or have those solid first drafts, we’re treading water.

I do think that without a GM, Tepper would be very tempted to find an NFL exec with good experience. I don’t think it’s far fetched at all that he picks a decent person, but I certainly don’t have faith in him because he screwed up once already. I just don’t see anything in Fitterer’s past to say he’s got a much better chance to succeed because Tepper could fall into it as long as he finds the right advisor. I certainly don’t think Tepper is a sycophant (which isn’t even the right word) that is wouldn’t try to find a pro if it was just him.

The names Tepper threw into the hat last time were mostly analytics types who didn't have a lot of experience in personnel evaluation.

His thing since he started has been to do things differently than others so that he can show how smart he is.

Except...he isn't.

    • Lions were never going Freeling over Miller for the same reason we wouldn't have taken Miller had Freeling not been on the board. Miller is a career RT Lions have a hole at RT, we have a hole at LT. If we took Miller, it would have been for him to backup Moton until he retires and/or we release him, so the best case scenario is it would have been a wasted 1st round pick for at least 1, if not 2 years.  At least Freeling has a shot at playing this year without injury ahead of him, he absolutely can win the LT job if he earns it, but Miller would have never supplanted Moton this year unless he got hurt.
    • What up y’all. I like threads like this where we can stroll down memory lane. I remember the insane amount of site traffic pre-crash when we signed Keyshawn Johnson, 06 I believe. Raging about the Cowboys Christmas Eve loss in 05 (Peppers touched that FG attempt as sure as Cotchery caught it). When I found the huddle I basically had a first born baby, now I’ve got one in college and one in high school. Life comes at you fast, but the Panthers and the Huddle has been a steady constant in my life for many years.  Those who have been here, y’all are cool with me any time any where.    Cheers, genitals!
    • This is a weird post since it wasn’t like we got A’s across the board. We needed a QB and got a consensus top 2 player at that position. (I was pretty vocal that Stroud should’ve been the guy but…)  I think this draft we generally got better value. I’m not particularly optimistic on BY but another year in this offense playing with TMac he really needs to be a consistently average QB at a minimum
