Does Tepper keep Fitt and let him hire his own coach?

I'm talking about Fitts while poking fun at your tendency to dig in on certain stances and argue them for years even when everyone else has moved on amd accepted that yeah, that dude sucked.  😂

Listen, I liked Gettleman too and thought we screwed up firing him but hindsight clearly showed he deserved to be fired though reinstating Hurney was beyond idiotic.

Like it or not, were tied to Tepper. He's the owner. He hired Fitts. That's why I'm so baffled with you acting like him hiring a GM would be so awful while defending Fitts who was hired by Tepper. You're essentially arguing against yourself.

That's a lot of spin to avoid actually defending your argument.

Fitterer wasn't one of Tepper's guys. In fact, none of the guys Tepper actually suggested even made it to the second round of interviews.

He wasn't one of Rhule's original suggestions either. In fact, he only came along as part of the process after Tepper and Rhule had trouble coming to any sort of consensus on their early candidates.

Basically, he was the one guy that the two of them were willing to compromise on.

But hey, since you're prepared to fire him as well, are you also prepared to cut guys like Horn, Ickey and others that he drafted? You've said he's a bad drafter, so are we parting ways with the draft picks?

For that matter, how about pre Fitterer guys like Jeremy Chinn? He started off great but now is ineffective. Since you don't seem to believe coaching has that much of an impact, it must be Chinn himself, right?

Did you see Matt Corral play in preseason? You sure you want Fitts wielding that card when we swing on our next franchise QB?

You're going to judge a guy as success or failure because he gets 3 snaps in practice while a guy who never legitimately had a chance to make any team baring injuries got 50% in preseason. He never stood a chance against Rhule's pet project.

But hey, since you're prepared to fire him as well, are you also prepared to cut guys like Horn, Ickey and others that he drafted? He said he's a bad grafter, so are we parting ways with the draft picks?

For that matter, how about free Fitterer guys like Jeremy Chinn? He started off great but now is ineffective. Since you don't seem to believe coaching has that much of an impact, it must be Chinn himself, right?

Yeah, when we fired Hurney we should've cut Cam and Luke, right? 😂

Still waiting for that argument that doesn't boil down to "he might not suck if not for Matt Rhule".

Still watching his draft picks look lukewarm at best. Still watching his trades look like flops. Still watching his vet additions not make an impact.

Yeah, Rhule and company suck. Not arguing against that. Just saying I'm seeing nothing to argue for saving Scott Fitterer's hide. He looks like part of the problem.

Are we going to pretend he didn't look absolutely dreadful? Are we going to pretend that he didn't have significant durability concerns and then ended up on IR before the season started?

Maybe he'll end up working out yet. But it would be a shocking development based on what we saw.

Except you are... exactly that, whether you mean to or not.

The draft picks look bad, but it's got nothing to do with how they're being coached. They just are.

The coaching is bad, but that has nothing to do with why the free agents and trades look bad. They just do.

See how ridiculous that sounds?

That's the only knock. I'm not saying Rhule didn't sabotage but THAT is the only credible knock on Corral. Everything else, his skills, arm, velocity, accuracy are on par with anybody else with first and second stringers protecting him.

It was said he got stepped on. That usually means friendly fire.

Says the guy who doesn't want to trust Tepper to hire a GM but is defending the GM Tepper has already hired like he's some proven commodity. At least when you did this with Gettleman he had actually assembled a 15-1 roster than went to the Super Bowl.

That's what I'm saying here. Fitterer is completely unproven. There's nothing of substance to point to in order to argue that he's the right guy. Literally the only argument is that he might not suck if not for Matt Rhule. That's the entire argument. My argument is that's not enough.

    • lol, that second part is quite literally one of the dumbest things ever. Having or not having guaranteed contracts has absolutely nothing to do with how much these billionaires have to pay.  Because there is a hard cap and a minimum cap spend requirement, and teams either use their cap or roll it over to use it all the next year, so the owners have to pay the same amount of money in the end no matter what. Having fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL would only hurt salary cap management, and thus would end up screwing over the team and its fan base when teams kiss on signings as they take up cap room that is needed to improve the roster. Look at the Browns with Watson, they gave him the fully guaranteed deal and all it’s doing is sucking up massive cap space now.  If they hadn’t done that, the owner would still be paying the same amount of money each year as that cap space would still be used elsewhere. If you want to argue for fully guaranteed contracts because the players deserve it, that’s an entirely different argument and a fair one to discuss.  But anyone against fully guaranteed deals isn’t doing it to argue for the billionaire owners.

    • Ryabkin could be the steal of the draft, he was a Top 10 pick heading into last season and had a rough year.  Lots of GMs passed on him because of that and his workouts. Pick has really high upside and Svech should be able to translate Rod tearing his arse a new one for making dumb plays since Svech has had several years of it.  🤣😂
