Thus is why I can't judge all pur picks yet. I have no idea if they are actually bad or if they are being put routinely in bad positions. What I can say for certain is it generally takes Rhule about 4x longer to see player strength and weaknesses than it should, sometimes longer, sometimes not at all. Perfect example is Chinn. Why the hell he is playing as a safety when his abilities were on display in full close to the ball is beyond me. Chinn looks like JAG but we all have seen he is much more than that.

I meant to mention Chinn specifically as an example but just forgot in all that I did write.  Glad you brought that up.

I mean, the simplest of things 

take WR Higgins. He has not seen action 

he is a player that Mayfield is comfortable with …he has played with him in disciplined sets and he and Higgins seem to  improvise well together …they seem to know what the other is going to do when things break down, at least in Cleveland 

to get mayfield comfortable with someone he knows in an offense and players he isn’t comfortable with…..why in God’s name is Higgins not out there ?
 

is Shi Smith that much better than Higgins ?  From what I’ve seen the answer is a definitive ‘no’

      I still think another QB is brought in Day 3. Grier is camp body level at this point.

      We’re in a pickle. My best hope is we protect him and can run the ball vs most Ds and the WRs are healthy so he has every chance to not look like what he looked like in too many games last year.

      I'm really not stressing about upgrading from Bryce. I'm frustrated with our inability (or refusal) to recognize overall bad QB performance and failure to seriously address the issue. QB is the most impactful position on the field, and we're not only settling for what we've been given to this point, but we've rewarded it with a fully guaranteed 5th year extension for a player that's never played 2 NFL franchise QB quality games back to back in 3 seasons. I can't understand how that's ok from a coach's or GM's viewpoint. Successful franchises don't do things like this. It just doesn't make sense.  We do not have a top half of the league QB right now. Since we don't have that player, we should be looking for him. Pickett isn't it. Grier isn't it. Bryce hasn't proven he is yet. Until you have that sure fire franchise QB, you keep looking. You're not consistently making the playoffs, a deep run, or a SB appearance without one.  What's the worst that could happen? We end up with 2 potential number 1 QBs? How horrible.
