Will Anderson v. QB

You go with the Derrick Thomas aka DT reincarnate over any QB in this draft. If it was Amderson versus a Trevor Lawrence, you take Lawrence, but it's not.

Roll with Corral, take Grayson McCall in the 2nd, keep a veteran clipboard holder and you're set at QB. If it's a rebuild you go with the generational player as a corner stone. Not a JAG like Stroud or Levis.

This isn’t a shot against the OP because I feel like everyone just looks at the numbers, but when is the last time a triple-option QB had success in the NFL…

If Corral’s red flag was that he came from an RPO offense then a fugging stop sign needs to be put up for McCall as Coastal’s basic offensive principles come from the triple-option.

stupid thread

Just Fields says hello with his Ohio State pedigree.

You'd rather have that, or Dwayne Haskins, than Will Anderson? Anderson is the closest thing to Micah Parsons out there. You don't pass on that for Will fuging Levi's or CJ Stroud.

Especially if we hold on to Burns.

Have you watched Coastal? They run an RPO, sure. But he's also thrown 70 touchdowns to 6 interceptions in his career. He broke Tua's record for passer efficiency rating by 20 points when the record was only being broken incrementally.

Throwing for 7,000 yards and 75 touchdowns in a little more than 2 seasons isn't "triple option".

I’ve watched Coastal plenty of times… and yes what they do is entirely based off the triple-option.

I’m not saying that he’s not good at what he does. I’m saying that I don’t want anything to do with a G5 QB running a heavy RPO/Triple-Option scheme.

It looked like Corral was going to need a full season to get accustomed to an NFL playbook and he ran RPO at an SEC school against quality defenses… McCall is doing it against Sun Belt teams…

Furthermore, if this was a triple option, wouldn't McCall have a few thousand more rushing Yards and few thousand less passing, and probably 50 less touchdown passes?

Regardless of whether you take McCall, you still take Anderson over anyone else. You'll never get a shot at a guy like him except in the Top 5 and every 5 years. That's compared to Stroud or Levi's who would be 2nd round picks in a normal QB draft class.

Those guys are nothing compared to what you should be able to nab at 1 for a QB.

Even if you wanted to draft a defender first overall this dude is going to play LB or DE in the pros? And will the team drafting him use him the same way he was used in college? Simmons from Clemson comes to mind in Arizona as a dude with tons of talent who was all over the field in college and the Cardinals used him nothing like he was in college.

On top of this, I don't believe McCall is worth a second round pick.

    • MORGAN ON PLAY CALLER FOR CANALES   "I think that's really his [Canales'] call," he stated. "I think if he wants to promote somebody into being the play-caller or bring somebody from the outside. We haven't really talked about that. But that is something that I'm sure we'll talk about. We talk about every decision together. If he feels like he needs to add somebody or promote somebody into being the play-caller, then I trust him."
    • Dude, he cannot see the field, when his feet are not set he throws ducks.   What the fug are you watching?
    • I'm looking at the final drive, and that's where I'm laying the blame at Bryce's feet. Stepping up to the line, 38 seconds left, 3 time outs on the clock. 30 yards needed to attempt a FG. It's not Bryce's job to call the plays, that's DC's and it was terrible play calling.  It's Bryce's job to read what the defense is giving him at the line. The middle of the field is open. Rams are guarding against the deep ball and bringing pressure leaving the middle of the field ripe for the taking. Knowing his line not holding up for long, Bryce should have read the defense, called the audible, and thrown to the middle of the field for 6- 8 yards, like you said, quick slants would have worked. Then run either hurry up or call a TO. We had time. He has to make the adjustments. Any QB has to make the adjustments.  The pass Horn dropped hit his hands but was at his knees. Should he have slid and caught it? Probably. Was the pass a good one? No it wasn't. Both players were at fault, not just Horn. Let's not pretend that Bryce threw a beautiful pass that hit the receiver chest high right in the hands in perfect stride because that damn sure wasn't the throw.  The defense didn't choke away a lead. They never had a real lead. Choking away a lead is being up by multiple scores late in the 4th and losing. We were up by 4 and handed the ball back to a potential MVP with an All pro WR and potential future HoF WR2. One score games in the 4th are a slug fest. 28-3. That's choking away a lead.  I don't solely blame Bryce for the game, but you seem to solely blame the defense for the game because they went to prevent after losing Horn. You are forgetting the short field that the offense left them that led to the early Puka TD on one of our 2 failed 4th down conversions. Our defense has been given very limited resources over the past 3 years while we have tried to put everything possible around Bryce. We added a little bit to the D this year after giving up a NFL record in points last year. Our defense overachieved based on what they've been given to work with.
