I cant believe the OP is surprised, especially with Daniel Jones asking for 45million per year. We are bias here. He is 24 years old and has elite athleticism. Players get paid on that notion alone.

Yeah, but not typically when they have a full rookie contract's worth of tape proving said athleticism doesn't translate very well or at all lol.

And as far as Daniel Jones...  yeah, that's ridiculous, but he's a QB and those guys seem to destroy the previous market value every year.

And he was a former 1st round pick.. those guys stay a long time in this league based on draft status alone.

That said.. If he can catch on... man would we have an elite secondary.

The dude had some duds with us last year (Bucs game), but he also had some really great games. If you show up great on tape.. franchises see opportunity. I mean look at what CJ did with our last coaching staff... now put a competent staff in place for him and we could be eating our words.

I totally understand the humor around this thread, but at the same time... it can be just as quickly seen as a short sighted view.

He just seems disengaged many times ..almost joyless

Not sure of the state of his contract but I wouldn’t resign him.

I think the Panthers can do better

Despite being torched against TB last season, I still think Taylor has a chance to be really good.  He has shown more to me in flashes than CJ ever has.

To me elite athleticism might get draft position.

but Production gets the second

panthers can do better   Get someone who wants to play.  I don’t see a lot of ‘want to’ with that guy

Man, it's a lot of bad though.  But, you make a very, very valid point in that it is difficult to judge anyone under the former staff under which CJ was acquired and played for.

It's just for me, the eye test suggests he will never live up to that draft billing, and in fact, the reality is likely far removed from that.  He just has had some horrible gaffes that you don't see from even average #2 corners.  I still remember going to the Superbowl with undrafted guys like Terry Cousins and Reggie Howard, and I don't remember those guys ever making the boneheaded plays CJ has repeatedly.  And that's why, even under a different staff I just wouldn't have much hope for him...  I would love to be proven wrong if he's here, but man...  a lot of those plays just looked like he was mentally checked out, and I don't think any coach is gonna fix that.

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
