DJ Chark recently underwent ankle surgery?

Wow, just wow

Obviously the team knew about this and was okay with it, but to me, this is just another sign of why this wasn't a smart signing for us to go into the season with him as our #1.

The guy is flat out injury prone, particularly his ankles, and the fact that he had yet another surgery this offseason, and COULD be ready for OTA's, just isn't exactly an inspiring update to hear.

We need to go get Hopkins, Sutton, Jeudy, or trade back into the First round to get a #1 WR, particularly JSN if we take Stroud.

Can't believe I agree with you but you're right. A injury prone WR already having surgery on his bad ankles is not a good sign. We still need another impact WR.

I would trade a 2nd for Jeudy or 3rd for Sutton. I like Hopkins as well but we haven't been linked to him all offseason.

The WR1 spot is up for grabs. I'd say that it's not going to be handed to anyone, and it's my expectation that TMJ will be the lead dog (if we even have a prototypical one).

I would hate trading a second for Jeudy. He has largely underwhelmed for all the hype and opportunity that he has had.

I feel like the TMJ hype is just that. He's shown nothing to make me think he has #1 WR potential.

All I hear is he's 6'3 fast and athletic.

What about his route running? His hands? Can he beat the jam and create space?

You know the things that actual make you a #1 WR...

Damn near had a 1000 yard receiving with Russell Wilson last season. Anybody who watched the Broncos last year knows how bad Russ played the QB position. Jeudy did the best he could given that situation. He didn't make it to Alabama just being a guy. He can ball if you give him a good QB.

They aren’t trading Jeudy.  The guy is on the cusp of breaking out.

WRs typically take a few seasons to be really good.  Steve Smith was a return guy for us for a few seasons until he absolutely exploded.

Mismanagement and poor QB play. TMJ flashed when given the opportunity and the targets.  You can't say "But DJ!" Because he was either getting a good majority of targets or the pass game was absolutely abysmal.  Yet, was 2nd in the team in receiving and always seemed to be making a big catch.

People don't really seem to put target share into account when looking at basic stats for some reason. Chark and TMJ would been 1k WR's last year with 100 targets. Chark obviously had an injury but no reason to think TMJ wouldn't have hit that number if Robbie didn't start out as the #2

Yeah he had 6 more targets and receptions than the 3rd leading receiver and double the amount of yards.  I think it's fair to give him a shot at being the guy.

    • I sold mine when Tepper installed those soccer seats in the end zone using the Marketplace. I retired and couldn't afford the season ticket price any more. Got back what I initially paid for them in 1995. From the email I got, my guess is a family who had end zone PSL's used the $ they got to give up their seats to buy mine. Don't give up @Waldo. The upgrades coming could do the same for you.
    • Don’t get me wrong, I love Koochie. I think he could be a star. But I’m not convinced Rod trusts him. And I realize my post was confusing. I meant based on the reports of swapping Necas for Ullmark or another goalie. If we’re going to trade for a goalie I would rather use draft picks instead of lowering the value of Necas.
    • You can make a decent case that most of the starters are at-least average. But depth-wise, its awful, maybe the worst in the NFL.  The only reason they could be a playoff team, is the awful NFC south and its collection of bad QBs and coaching staffs. That changed big time when cousins and Morris arrived to ATL. Now it would take a setback to cousins, in which he currently ready to play given all the stem cells and peptides stuff he has.  In past years there was always some elite talent leftd on the 7 win rosters. Like many know theres just dbrown and a huge ? in horn. If hunt was elite, phins would have tagged him. There's no Thomas Davis, Luke, Cam, Olsen, peppers, kalil, beason, gross, Jenkins, Smitty etc on the team. Brown is great and all, but sacks and pressure wise, he's not game changing. Panthers lack difference makers, young ones. You could make a weak case for clowney, but that ravens D is stacked.  Us fans just need to hope Dan Morgan can collect more young difference maker in the next 2-3 years. If Bryce isn't that guy, 4 years before this team can sniff the playoffs.  Honestly the panthers are due some luck as well.
