Belgium destroys shipment of American beer after taking issue with ‘Champagne of Beer’ slogan

Belgium has destroyed a shipment of American beer after taking exception to its maker’s slogan that it was “The Champagne of Beers.”

Belgian customs crushed the 2,352 cans of Miller High Life beer earlier this week, reasoning that they were improperly labeled as Champagne.

The move came after a trade association for the Champagne industry complained that the term should be used only on bottles of sparkling wine, made using a traditional method in Champagne, France.

By convention, true Champagne – as in, the French sparkling wine – can only be made using Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes.

The Comité Champagne, a joint trade association for the Champagne industry, requested the destruction of the American beers, arguing that the label “The Champagne of Beers” infringed on the protected designation of “Champagne”.

I must say I love this and their reason for doing it.

If only had Dylan Mulvaney been on the can! It'd be an international incident!

Speaking of.... I had to read and figure out what all this uproar was and came out of it extremely disappointed. Really? When the best you can do is refuse to drink and/or boycott a crappy beer from a company, and you're probably drinking another beer from the same company, your intelligence is on full display.

All I can conclude is that Dylan Mulvaney is living rent free in a lot of folks' heads these days.

In the last 30 days, their stock price has dropped .29% and their 90-day profile shows a 10.96% gain. So, yeah, that whopping little over a quarter percent stock price difference is killing the company.

Been out of the country and only had time to read a lot of headlines with that name in but it and have no idea who Dylan Mulvaney is.  Gonna click on one of these budlight articles sooner or later but don’t want to engage in it cause it sounds like nonsense. People need to find a hobby other than shiiting on other people

That's all anyone does in the US, shiit on other people: Trump, trans people, Tucker, blacks, boomers, Gen Z, Asians, DeSantis, Biden, drag queens, Pro-Lifers, Pro-Choicers, the Left, the Right, Russia, billionaires, rednecks, Latinos, gun owners, gays, TERFs, CIS people, protesters, the government, "woke" people, Disney, police, etc.

People speak their mind. We all have opinions. No one is safe. It is what it is. You don't want to be bothered by it? Stay off social media ... that's where it all takes place.

Dylan is basically just like a Kardashian, cashing in big time at the right time and laughing all the way to the bank ...

    • I'd hold on to Walker - we have no OT depth at all. Freeling is a block of clay - all the tools are there and he appears to have a great attitude. He needs serious work on his technique to realise his potential though.
    • From my watch last night: They weren't trading out of 19 unless it was a daft offer once Freeling got there. They were clearly antsy to get Hunter - and Minnesota actually called to offer the trade down. They weren't trading out of the third round pick once Brazzell fell to it (and Canales would have been happy with him in the second round). They traded back a lot on Day 3 - even if Morgan 'Babe Ruth'd' it with Lee, Hecht and Wheatley; they clearly weren't the only guys they would have taken at those picks. I'm curious to know which player caused the reaction at the start of day 2 (Dan Morgan): "of course they'd pick him"
    • Watching this confirms that this staff and front office is super high on Monroe Freeling. I wouldn't be surprised if he's gotta a real chance to win the starting LT job in camp. If he does, we can look to flip Rasheed Walker to a contender desperate for tackle help.   As for Ickey I still really like him and wanna extend him but based on how the staff was talking about Freeling it might be time for ickey to start taking some practice sets at guard if he wants to stay here as we are gonna have to have figure out a solution for the contracts of Lewis and Hunt.  My preferred scenario for the Oline in 2027 is Freeling-Ickey-Hech-Lewis-Moton.
