Expectations

Yeah, we are beyond being happy just to be in the playoffs, at this point we are like Washington before they finally won it , anything less than the Cup will be a dissapointing season

I think with Boston and Tampa out of the way, it became alot more realistic for every team left, I just am really worried about our goalie situation , Freddy has been inconsistent, letting in alot of questionable goals, don't know when Raanta will be back, and we don't have another NHL ready goalie , if we fail this season , Goalie should be our focus through trades and f/a, if we can get a vezina caliber goalie without having to sell the farm

So far the goalies havent been a problem besides Game 3. If not for the turnover/deflection, Anderson wouldve had a shut out. However, I dont trust Raanta or Anderson anymore in the future. Its time to get a better and more reliable goalie next season with Kooch backing up.

I read a post last night that said expectations were losing in the 2nd round, so we are doing much better.

I have to disagree. The expectations last offseason and almost all of the season was to win the Stanley Cup. They only lowered after doing nothing at the trade deadline.

The expectation for the team is to win it all, however I still believe we didnt do enough to get over the hump and yes losing in the conference final, assuming we knock out the Devils, or even in the final should be considered a failure of a season.

Never forget what we were supposed to do for over a year now.

I was actually against bringing in big names at the TDL. I will admit it would be nice to have a scoring forward, but MackEachern has been serviceable. This team will go as far as the goaltending will allow. If we can get average goaltending, I see us in the finals. If Andersen drops off, all bets are off. The only team that worries me is Vegas, they are a matchup nightmare. I do not think Mier, Kane, or O’Rielly would have made a huge difference on our team. I do think Dmitry Orlov would have been a big get for us. However, it is about chemistry and those big name players, I believe, would have been detrimental to our team. If we are on, no one in the league can beat us, period, especially at home, and who has home field advantage?

What in the world are y’all talking about?  Our goalie situation has been ELITE in the playoffs. Our forwards are scoring and our D is playing stupid well minus that one game.

Expectations after losing Svech Turbo and Patches was first round.

losing those guys has forced our players to step up….Martnook. Last year and the previous years, our goalie play was ok but our stars like Aho disappeared in the playoffs.

Now, our expectations are a cup. No more. No less. We a killing NJ. Killing the third best record team in the league.

we are playing elite hockey top to bottom.   Ride that wave to Rod lifting the big sliver jug again!

My expectations are contingent - if we win game 5 I think we have a strong cup contender and a team thats likely headed for destiny. If this goes to game 6 or 7 and we still win, we have a contender equal to the rest and might still win it.

    • Watching those throws Drake Maye was making on a dead run threading lasers into tight coverage on the sidelines over and over in that game against the Bills... these people need to go watch that and be honest with themselves.
    • why rig the scenario with the "as a passer" tag.   I mean, I assume you do that because Bryce needs help in the argument.  If we are just talking players and no contacts?   I mean, give me Young over Russell Wilson.   That's it.   I'd put him on par w/ Penix, Fields, McCarthy and Rattler,  so that's a wash.  Give me everyone else over Bryce.  And I'm not handicapping the other players as passing only because when you start doing that it's really meaningless.
    • McCarthy to date, for sure. That's a very early sample size, however. Russell Wilson is a backup. Not sure Wilson wouldn't be better suited to our offense specifically, but at the bare minimum it's basically a wash. Hurts I would generally disagree with. I do think Hurts is likely to be less than stellar in our offense. Justin Fields - Agree. Fields is a significant threat on the ground but he sees the field as badly or worse than Bryce. And that's with significantly more reps. Spencer Rattler - I honestly thought this would be an easier call that it is. TBH, right now Rattler looks a lot better. Really almost across the board. Kyler - Murray is better. Basically across the board. Not significantly better, mind you. Trevor Lawrence is more debatable than it seems. Low completion percentages, tons of TO's.....he really has been quite bad this year in Jax. He is considerably more talented than Bryce but the results have been marginally better. Tua - Tua is a little more dynamic of a player but he is a TO machine. Tend to agree. Caleb Williams. Not sure on this. Williams is still struggling to be consistent but his upper end is WAY higher than Bryce. He shows it fairlu frequently, as well. Probably would rather be working through Caleb's issues than Bryce. Penix - 100%. This guy stinks. Cam Ward. This is a little tough. Again, far higher ceiling on Ward and he shows flashes but it's been a mess there in Tenn. Probably lean towards Bryce here.
