Andersen needs to go. 1) He can’t stay healthy and 2) He chokes when the game is on the line.

I like Pacioretty but I’d let him go and get a healthier player to replace him. Odds are, he will have the same injury again.

Raanta is OK as a backup but we need to get a much better starting goal tender.

The front office DEFINITELY needs to get aggressive and start signing some of these players that will be FA’s next year. Has anybody looked it up? Almost the whole team is up for FA next year!  Who does that?

The whole team is FA next year. Don’t get your dates mixed up.

I have a strong feeling this team is going to run it back with a couple tweeks.

……that’s a good thing. Whoever said complete rebuild on this forum a couple days ago is DA.  We didn’t get destroyed by Florida. We actually outplayed them.

run it back with a couple additions and we can win it all.

Anyone saying Freddie “chokes” when the game is on the line hasn’t looked at his playoff stats against other goalies. Of goalies with at least 4 games in the playoffs Freddie ranks:

#2 of 21 goalies in Goals Against Average at 1.83

#6 of 21 goalies in save percentage at 0.927

Two of the games vs panthers we lost at the end of the game 5 on 4 panthers PP.

Freddie was solid in the playoffs and I hope to see him back. You just aren’t going to bring up a rookie who plays better and if a goalie is going to be available at the trade that’s better then fine, look at his stats and let’s talk.

I think bringing back Freddie is the play.  It looks like Koochie will be the backup at $2M a year now.  Will miss Raanta, another great teammate.

This braintrust needs to take a good hard look at the roster and see what they can do to maybe upgrade through trades.  Drury is definitely a trade candidate, he looks like he will always be a 4th line grinder.  Also, as the Athletic article pointed out Necas could bring in a good return after his solid regular season.  I wouldn't say he was great in the playoffs when we really needed him to be...do you sell high?  It's one of those trades you can come to regret, but if he plays lights out in the regular season again he is going to want a much nicer contract than the bridge deal he got.  Can we afford it?

I think we definitely need to get Fast signed to a reasonable deal for both sides, and Puljujarvi for $1M a season to play on the 4th line mostly.  Coach him to be a physical, defense first forward with some scoring upside.

    • I hope not. 3rd-5th round QB's are historically awful. Most of the time that team is just drafting another QB in the first the following year. Look at the Saints, if they continue to suck this year they are just taking a QB. And if they do they just threw away a 2nd round pick that they just drafted. We did the same poo with Clausen, Greer, Pike, that guy we drafted a few years ago who is so irrelevant I forgot his name...  Just take a 1st round QB if Bryce isn't the answer and be prepared to live with it
    • This reminds me on Madden where you create an alternate uniform and the pre-recorded voice overs talk about how hideous your uniform looks. 🤣
    • There are people on this forum that just want to see a lot of passing yards....number go up. That's all it is, really. They are thirsting for a 350-400 yard game. The idea that Jameis Winston is going to come in and play like a star and lead us to wins is ludacris. He's the 3rd fuging string for a 2-5 team and has played horrible for years now. Sure, passing numbers will go up but you'll also get a lot of dumb plays, pick 6's, and incompletions en route to a frustrating bad offensive performance, just in a different way. I think these people are yearning for another Delhomme situation, and the odds of that happening are very very slim. It's way more likely Howell or Jameis comes in and looks like Jack Plummer or Andy Dalton did in the preseason. There just isn't that much good quarterbacking in this league right now. And if we draft another QB in the first round, there is a good chance they bust. It's not a guaranteed carrot. The reality is, as mediocre as Bryce has been, the risk of bringing someone else in in-season and releasing Bryce becuase you aren't happy with his current performance is staggeringly high. Don't want to re-up his contract and search for a solution in the offseason? Sure, I'm on board. Bryce hasn't been good enough to warrant a second contract. But It is very. very unlikely that bringing someone else in midseason is going to give this team more wins.
