2023 Off-Season Thread

Recommended Posts

I think we all are just ichy for hockey. The team is good. We just need it. We fend for it. Maybe addictive if you will?!   Ups and downs but for the most part, we are really friendly and aren’t like the panthers sub. Even if I get a little flack for being too positive sometimes but I get it haha 😜

I’ll say, we have a good group in here. Hopefully we have more for the regular season games like we had for the playoffs

we really should have a Huddle game we all tailgate and go too this year.

Tarasenko was a TDL acquisition by the Rangers last year and now he's signing a 1-year, $5M deal with Ottawa? All this after canning his agent and signing with new representation?

This sounds to me like Tarasenko may be a problem child and perhaps a blessing in disguise the Canes didn't sign him.

Yeah the Tarasenko trade drama turned me off on him a bit.

Interestingly, the Canes first regular season home game is against the Sens.  A chance for the Canes to show him we didn’t need him lol. Here’s to a Canes win!

We don’t need him. Our roster as it stands is more than fine and will be better than last year even. With the knowledge svech is missing half the season. Bring Pono up. Get him some pro experience. Win as many as we can and we’ve added two bruisers for the conference games. If we need a scorer? Guess what? We get svech back.

If correct that the Canes offer was less than $4mil this easily explains why Tarasenko went elsewhere. Can’t blame him for that.

He got a 4-year offer for that price from the senators and didn't take it???? That would have been absolute highway robbery if he was able to get a 5.5m 4 year contract from the Sens.

The dude has been a ghost in the playoffs when he has been on a playoff team and thinks he's worth elite level money 🤦‍♂️ sounds like he deserves to be on the Sens.

Yeah to me that Twitter post sounds questionable. He ended up with a 1 year $5mil contract from the Senators.

Didn't realize he had three goals in their playoff series. Honestly, it seems like the guy didn't want to play here so he can go f*** himself.

As much as I don't agree with TDAs views, the year we had him he clearly showed he wanted to play with us and hopefully he'll do the same next year. I'll take guys that buy into our system and want to do well over overpriced rentals that will probably be shipped out again at the trade deadline

Point well taken. We should recognize spirited debate doesn’t set well with the more sensitive members here.

Youre kind of piling on after it’s all over though haha.

I wasn't trying to pile on, I was just saying it was pointless to argue over the rumor about Tarasenko joining the Canes when it is now apparent he's all about the $$$.

    • The good news is that we are pretty uniquely well established to address all of our needs this season. We have $14m real cap space, and something like $40m in trade deadline cap space. Not sure exactly how that works out. But, we have the room to absorb any bad contracts. With recent rule changes regarding retention, that went into effect this season, we now have a huge advantage in the trade market.  On top of that, while we do have obvious needs, we also have a glut of talent in certain areas that we struggle to find ice time for. We are over-stocked on scrappy talented lil-guys, strong defensively sound 3rd liners and shutdown left shot dmen. Whether it's a package or separate deals, idk. But, one of each from Stank/Blake/Nads, Erob/Carrier/KK/Jank, and Walker/Nystrom; throw in some 1st round picks (and frankly any other prospects they want) and we should be able to come out with a 1b to pair with Bussi and either a 2c with size or a 2c and size.   TL/DR We got the money, you got the stuff?
    • I don’t  think 6’4 was ever considered small or undersized. Baby hands tho, yes that was his thing That’s an interesting idea, like an optical illusion? Sounds like you have personal experience with this!
    • in the 25' draft the Carolina Panthers had hired Brandt Tillis someone who actually understood how to build a successful team & build through the draft .  this team was yes mismanaged for years prior to Brandt Tillis joining the team in 25' & rarely done anything right in the draft outside occaionaly getting lucky on an UDFA such as Jalen Coker who's dad coincidentally happened to be a huge Carolina Panthers fan, hint hint  ...just saying
