I don't agree with you a lot, but you have a point here. Miller should have took over in the 2nd half. He still played the passive role. He deserves criticism for this game.

It is a serious concern but very early.  I said it leading up to the draft, if he doesn’t get some competitive nature going he will be a role player.  I have noticed these Warrior players are focused on him…probably cuz he was picked 2nd.

Lets say this as well…I am really not sure we could even pick Scoot.  We see Lamelo resigned but if Scoot was picked whose to say we wouldn’t be in a Lillard type situation.  It’s possible.  Miller needs to get busy soon though…this going through the motions shet won’t get it done in the NBA

Whole team looks like trash but Miller isn't separating himself from anyone either. If he wasn't the 2nd overall pick he just looks like an npc jag standing around, playing below average defense

Miller is definitely NOT showing up as the best player on the court...not even in the top 3. He has had a half of one quarter out of 8 where he looked competetive.

There are other intangibles that are showing up as concerns for me. He was sulking after his and 1 make. He is show a lack of hustle, physical traits and has not shown me anything close to mental toughness.

One positive is his playmaking ability off of the pick and roll. Thats it so far.

For sure. The announcers even questioned his motor.

The game vs Wemby will tell us a lot moving forward.

Saying that his best game of college was after the off court stuff and the crowd booing him calling him names he dropped a career high 41. That game is what sold me on him. Hopefully we see that kind of performance Friday vs Wemby.

It might be totally fine.  He is very young and the talent is there.  Once the light goes on he could still dominate but wish he had it already.  It’s worrisome atp

Yeah the body language is off to a bad start. If Scoot balls out this week it's gonna get ugly in the media/social media

Well, this is the last summer league game I'll watch. These guys are mostly selfish, taking terrible shots, and playing with little to no effort. Bouknight needs to be left on the bench, if not cut or traded for peanuts. Kai Jones is still very raw. Hopefully he can improve. Smith Jr is selfish and not much of a PG at all. Miller has been the best playmaker of the floor for the Hornets and he isn't great at that and is way too passive. A top 3 pick should be aggressive and that hasn't been him so far.

I thought it would take half the regular season to be upset over the Miller pick, but here we are in the lowly SL and he's already confirming most of our fears. He's is not the guy, he just isn't.

Relax, it’s been two summer league games.

I shouldn’t have to say this every year but here we are. Sean May won summer league MVP for the Bobcats in his rookie year, we saw how that turned out.

Let Miller complete his first season before jumping off a cliff.

Just way too timid from Miller meanwhile Nick Smith thinks he’s AI.

Hopefully he’ll get more comfortable as he gets accustomed to his teammates and the NBA.

As we saw last game, the talent is there.

I am very discouraged with Nick Smith so far.  I think he has some game offensively and hasn’t played much ball the last year but damn he is nonexistent defensively and isn’t showing much as a distributor either

Kai Jones is pretty bad to be in the league for 2 years now. He looks so awkward with the ball besides his occasional highlight dunk or block. I think he gets cut or traded along with Bouk

He has zero basketball IQ.  He has had time to develop whether it be through coaching or work but he isn’t going anywhere.  It’s just street ball for him and that might not change

    • I think his stats will depend on the development of the rookies and sophomore receivers, which isn't totally under is control. The eye test is a different story. Has to consistently look the part before you decide to pay him Purdy money.
    • Interestingly I think we have kind of of gone through this as an organization. Richardson implemented an FO driven tank. Bad roster, no cash spent, coach uninterested. It may have been for different reasons but I think the results were the same. A team that wasn't going to win many if any games. We ended up with the #1 pick. Cam Newton came in and changed the franchise. It worked, but Cam himself pointed to the losing culture in the locker room needing to be changed. It probably took about 2-3 years for that to happen. Tank worked pretty damn well for us. Cam is one of one. Not another like him, everyone can't deliver on his draft status AND change a culture basically on his own.  So as an exercise here are the last 30 #1 picks. If you tanked and got to pick #1 how many of these guys do you think were worth it? Not just good players, but franchise changers. Guys who will take your culture and shift it so the tank was actually worth it. I would say maybe 9 or 10 guys would be worth a tank, pending the last 5 picks?    2025: Cam Ward (Miami (FL)) - Tennessee Titans 2024: Caleb Williams (USC) – Chicago Bears 2023: Bryce Young (Alabama) – Carolina Panthers 2022: Travon Walker (Georgia) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2021: Trevor Lawrence (Clemson) – Jacksonville Jaguars 2020: Joe Burrow (LSU) – Cincinnati Bengals 2019: Kyler Murray (Oklahoma) – Arizona Cardinals 2018: Baker Mayfield (Oklahoma) – Cleveland Browns 2017: Myles Garrett (Texas A&M) – Cleveland Browns 2016: Jared Goff (California) – Los Angeles Rams 2015: Jameis Winston (Florida State) – Tampa Bay Buccaneers 2014: Jadeveon Clowney (South Carolina) – Houston Texans 2013: Eric Fisher (Central Michigan) – Kansas City Chiefs 2012: Andrew Luck (Stanford) – Indianapolis Colts 2011: Cam Newton (Auburn) – Carolina Panthers 2010: Sam Bradford (Oklahoma) – St. Louis Rams 2009: Matthew Stafford (Georgia) – Detroit Lions 2008: Jake Long (Michigan) – Miami Dolphins 2007: JaMarcus Russell (LSU) – Oakland Raiders 2006: Mario Williams (North Carolina State) – Houston Texans 2005: Alex Smith (Utah) – San Francisco 49ers 2004: Eli Manning (Mississippi) – San Diego Chargers 2003: Carson Palmer (USC) – Cincinnati Bengals 2002: David Carr (Fresno State) – Houston Texans 2001: Michael Vick (Virginia Tech) – Atlanta Falcons 2000: Courtney Brown (Penn State) – Cleveland Browns 1999: Tim Couch (Kentucky) – Cleveland Browns 1998: Peyton Manning (Tennessee) – Indianapolis Colts 1997: Orlando Pace (Ohio State) – St. Louis Rams 1996: Keyshawn Johnson (USC) – New York Jets 1995: Ki-Jana Carter (Penn State) – Cincinnati Bengals
