Is Fitterer the right guy?

Unless we want to be critical of the last 3 years.....then it's just one guy.

Nope. Rhule had his staff (originally Hurney led and organized) guys like Pat Stewart, Evan Cooper and his other coaches and scouts, some of whom ended up leaving or being let go before Rhule was even finished.

In that area, it's worth noting that after 1 year on the job, Scott Fitterer was given a blank check to remake the personnel department however he saw fit. This while Rhule's influence was diminished

All I know is that the combination of Rhule and Marty sucked. Rhule and Fitterer sucked together.  So the common denominator is Rhule and we all know Rhule sucked and so did Marty.

The jury is still out on Fitterer. He's been hit or miss so far since he's gotten here. The ony season I really can't give him blame or credit for was his first season with Rhule. After that, only Tepper knows how much control either really had and he's not talking.  So either way we are where we are and all that matters is what they ALL do going forward.

Then why argue when I say everyone deserves their fair share of the blame for the gigantic mess that has been the Panthers? And that people can't scapegoat it all to Rhule and act like others weren't part of it.

and at least I am consistent in how I judge.  Agree or not. It's like when people attempted to pin all our offensive woes on Joe Brady in year 2.  Joe Brady had his issues.  But he was the scapegoat for all the offensive problems by some here.   We didn't just have an OC problem with our O.

and while Matt Rhule was a massive part of the problem.  The primary one.  He wasn't the only problem in the Rhule era.

I wouldn't call what you're arguing "consistent".

The biggest difference is Rhule was a guy who actually tried to have as much control as possible.

No one describes Fitterer like that.

The logic of not scapegoating all blame to one person is consistent.  Even guys I dislike.   And you basically are playing both sides of the fence.  Saying well it's a team and everyone is mixed up in one breath and then arguing against someone for saying Tepper/Fitt/Hurney all had their hands in the mess.

and your biggest difference, has nothing to do with the actual convo.  Literally no one has suggested that of Fitt.

Thing is there's plenty of material out there talking about who did what, who said this about that, who was where and why and more.

You don't want to hear about any of that because it doesn't fit with your narrative, but it's there anyway.

my narrative is simply that Tepper, Hurney, Rhule, Fitt all were part of the mess that has been the Panthers.    All of them.

Yet you only focus on Fitterer.

If your belief is that everyone in a group combines to make the decisions, then why are you solely focused on a guy who's changed the vast majority of the people around him?

Is that "consistent"?

lol, you mean in the Fitterer thread?  Yeah, he sort of is the focus.

and I still have mentioned and blamed Rhule, Tepper, and Marty....in the thread about Fitt.  You know, everyone else.

and I largely just acknowledge there is some truth likely in everything.  While Matt Rhule was a totally unqualified and bad NFL coach.  Everyone generally had good things to say about the human.  And while it's fun to joke about the con job there is no reason to think he is a legit liar.  I think there are partial truths on his end.  Which get ignored in favor of the partial truth of guys still in black and blue.  And Matt Rhule specifically came out and addressed what he called the myth of him making all the roster moves, picks, etc. as he was trashed out the door.   So, I think there is some truth there.  Yeah, reporters like to remind you but in the contract it said he had final say if he wanted it.... but Rhule wanting to clarify that after his firing doesn't sound like he universally took advantage of that.  And some of the bad decisions came from other minds in the front office that were paid to make those decisions.

You think there is some truth found in the statements of the guy who equated being booed at a basketball game to his kids being threatened...

Yeah, sure 😕

Yeah, I think most guys in this world speak partial truths and I treat/view them all the same. You continue to blame one man for all the problems.   Which as you said is never the case…..but that is exactly your repeated case.

and yeah, Rhule wasn’t a POS human like an Urban.  He just was a trainwreck at his NFL job.  He got praise til the end and after on the human aspect..   So if he felt like he got too much and wanted to defend himself a little to narratives that weren’t really accurate? I can see some truth in what he said.  Because frankly it just makes sense that it wasn’t all him.

That kid comment is just that.  That’s where the coach hate drifts into the absurd.  Which I enjoy as much as the next person on a message board.   But yeah,  his comment actually makes sense as a father of young kids.   Easy to see how little kids felt threatened and they no longer could go.

    • Except it takes those QB's a few years to develop because they needed to learn the mental side of the game and have it catch up to their physical attributes. Bryce was supposed to be a QB savant who already had a fully developed mental side of the game and that was going to make up for his lack of physical ability.  And his lack of NFL level QB physical traits has been clear as day to anyone who has watched him the last 3 years, mainly, he just doesn't have an NFL arm, he can't zip the ball into tight spaces or throw on a line down the field like is needed at this level.
    • Don’t recall seeing many of his interviews but what strikes me is that he engages and goes in depth. Even with the cliche answers as referenced by OP come across somewhat thoughtful.  Very likable personality despite being someone who can crush an average person like I can crush a paper cup. I knew Motons mother had a career at MSU but was looking on the google and found that Mushin Muhammad personally knew Motons grandfather.   His late grandfather was a professor at MSU.   Cool guy.  Interesting family and small world.
    • I think people aren’t patient enough with Young. It can take a few years for a QB to develop. Look at Darnold, Baker and most recently Daniel Jones.   he hasn’t been able to put up big passing numbers either cause of how much we run the ball. You can tell our coaching staff still hasn’t took the training wheels off Bryce and let him go all out. We’ve had some pretty bad receivers as well. We finally got a true number one last year and look how much Bryce improved. Still we didn’t really have any depth behind TMac. Coker was hurt for a lot of the year and XL was our #2. How many big plays or TDs has XL dropped? I think this year can be the year we see Bryce able to hit his stride. If not then we can start looking for another qb but I just ask people to be patient.
