Not surprised I blocked this Whitlock guy on Twitter at some point in the past after looking up his recent tweets.

Not about Whitlock though...and to be clear, Whitlock was far from the only person to criticize this.

How does a college coach not know the name of his starting center? Especially so when that guy is snapping to his own son.

I'm not asking him to know the names and stories of every single player on his roster, but is it really too much to ask that he know who his starting center is?

Deion doesn’t know his starting Cs real/birth name.  That much seems clear. Which is odd for someone that touches the ball every down and who essential to his QBs play and safety.

some talking heads were also talking about that cheap shot on the DB/WR superstar……and how literally no one cared outside of Sanders son.  Which is odd in football.   And it even happened on the Colorado sideline.

it does seem like Colorado is largely a Sanders family reality show that features the one superstar making a guest appearance.  Camera crews basically document it like a family owned business.

I do wonder how the Deion Show goes when they start getting smacked.  Which is the next couple weeks.

It's not the starting Center. The starter was questionable all week so they played a freshman back up as a game day decision. They have like 113 players technically on the roster

Whitlock is horrible.  No doubt.  And has his own agenda

But Deion still didn’t know the name of his starting C.  Which is really freaking odd at the least

It was a freshman backup that he didn't recruit. The starter Van Wells was questionable all week and they went with the freshman as a game day decision

Yeah, and he didn’t know his starting center’s name.   Because that’s what the kid was.

it’s still weird for coach.  100 kids isn’t a lot if that is the world you live in.  Ask any teacher.  It wasn’t the first day of school.

It’s still his starting center for the game.  This isn’t the first day of school.   He is a football coach.  100 kids isn’t actually a lot in the context of a college football coach this far into a season.

it’s still a weird clip.

Maybe he was thinking of Hank Williams Jr from the old NFL intro. Not sure who all the Hanks were he was confused over.  1 Hank on the roster.  No Hanks on staff.

If E-Z-U loses to Gardner Webb on Saturday does Houston even bother showing up to work on Monday?

He shouldn't, but most likely will. That program has never been great but at least they were sort of respectable when Ruff was the coach. Since then they have been terrible and getting worse.

They've had their moments of respectability. Hell, they accounted for 50% of Matt Rhule's wins over top 25 teams.

    • I just rewatched all the highlights from after Bryce being benched. The Bryce hate needs to calm down a little bit. He showed a ton of potential the back half of the year. Same with Legette. They both made great plays when it mattered and a few mistakes when it counted. If we didn’t have a historically awful defense last year we could have ended even a bit better. Going into a brand new season we should be optimistic at least before game one. 2015 no one expected to go anywhere and the team steam rolled the league. I’m not saying that will happen, but hopefully we made strides to improve on the end of last year. Bryce put both Super Bowl teams in a battle last year and if we had a better D we could have taken them both. So at least look forward to the season and not past the season until it at least begins.
    • I’m not mad at Moehrig.  He’s great at what he does.  And to be honest, a lot of my favorite safeties in our history were box-first type guys - Maxie, Minter, Mike Mitchell, Chris Harris…  they’re first and foremost objective was to put people on their backs and coverage was secondary.  There is a place for that.  There is a definite need for that.  Physical guys that set the tone.  So cool, we have that in Moerhig. But what we have lacked for the vast majority of our existence is a true free safety that cleans everything up on the back end.  Sometimes they come in the form of a JOAT, like Peppers.  I think he would be a fantastic compliment to Moehrig’s strengths and weaknesses.  If we don’t go after him, I certainly hope Ransom is given the chance to grow and develop in real-time with real game reps, because what he did in preseason was very encouraging to see.  I hope he can grow into that roaming center fielder with a little bit of an edge to him as an enforcer as well.  He has the tools.  In the meantime, adding Peppers would only help.
    • Option 1 is most likely. Even if he kills it this year, it wouldn't be prudent to rush an extension for one good season. If you have to pay him more because you waited another year, then he earned it. And that's OK. Adjust accordingly.
