These types of Referee blunders are 100% unacceptable

I think collectively as a fanbase we are less mad about the piss poor calls because the Panthers were comfortably losing this game no matter what happened, but I agree these particular calls were atrocious especially the horse collar tackle. That 100% should have been a redo of the down.

IMO offsetting penalties should be overhauled.

First, they should only offset if the yardage penalty is the same.  A 15 yarder vs a 5 yarder should be a net penalty application.

Second, personal fouls should always take precedence over any other foul and only be offsetting if both teams are flagged.  Matters of player safety should always be penalized!

The NFL makes some things harder than it should be.

So when is a good time to talk about it? When we win despite 3-4 game changing calls? That rarely happens as I mentioned before. The topic is about atrocious calls, win or lose. You are offering a different discussion than is being offered here.

Maybe if it’s a 3 point game but we lost by two scores.

I'm convinced we're cursed.  Period.  The poo that happened in Super Bowl 50 and the following season opener, hell, pretty much Cam's entire tenure here, I HAVE NEVER SEEN HAPPEN IN OTHER GAMES.  Same as KK said in the OP, I've been watching and playing football since the early 90s and keep up with the rule changes year to year and I can't count the number of times I saw a call made for the first and only time against us.  I know the NFL can't completely control outcomes of games, but they definitely can heavily influence them to their liking, completely stacking the odds against us to where they all but do control it - see the aforementioned Super Bowl 50.

Yesterday was yet another example.  I also recall us at one point, I believe during the Cam years, have offsetting penalties where they also said our personal foul penalty took precedent and canceled out the opponent's personal foul, and thus they enforced the 15 on us and not them.  Also during those years, I also remember Cam getting roughed and they claimed a hold on us canceled out the personal foul on them, and iirc, it was a headshot.  The NFL does NOT give a poo - they don't regulate it, and at the end of the day, they're always gonna side with the refs.  And the officials have free reign to make up the rules as they go.

And we're never going to be on the favored end of these calls.  Period.  Accept it.

When you're a successful organization with a history of winning, filling your house with your fans, and a roster of savvy vets, you'll get those calls. There's a reason Magic Johnson could take 5 steps to the hoop, Tom Brady got roughing the passer calls every time he yelled for one, the Kansas City O-line holds and false starts, LeBron doesn't get tee'd up ever time he yells at refs for a call.

Winning cures a lot.

How there can be any scenario where a returner gets horse collared BADLY at the 1 yard line, and the receiving team then starts at that 1 yard line is beyond me. I don’t care if one of our blockers shot one of their guys during the return. You either rekick or get the extra 15 yards, it’s unbelievable this rule could exist if accurately called yesterday.

    • They've gone way overboard with the masking of plays by only filming the ball in air.  Nobody is analyzing camp highlights.
    • Canales up first. Guys got their legs back yesterday and started a little slow when they came out Bryce challenged them in the huddle and they responded "Dominant practice for the defense today." Praised turnovers, "beautiful hits," and being physical Praised Moehrig, Ransom, Incoom, and Jones II Confirmed playing starters. Predominantly a young team and can't pass up an opportunity. Emphasized game day routines such as nutrition, body readiness, etc. Plus it's a bunch of new guys on the defense. Bryce will start. Will play them the first two, but starters might sit for the third game depending on how practice goes that week. Nic Scourton has a mild hamstring that happened in special teams. DJ Johnson had an issue with his hip flare up and is getting checked out this afternoon. Experimenting with approach to preseason games. In Seattle they played their starters in all but the last preseason game and what Pete Carroll was looking for in terms of mental readiness to play football. Thomas Incoom has been getting a lot of work with AC Carter adding to his toolbelt. Getting better as a rusher and being physical in the run game. Looking for a consistency in response. 1pt for a win, 3pts for a TD. Defense doesn't like that, but in games if they give up one go ball the score can swing. They challenged the pass game and the run game today. Guys are getting together before, between, and after team drills to challenge each other Job of the coaching staff to set the foundation for our schemes, philosophy, and expectations of what it's like to play Panthers football. Powerful when players take that and the locker room owns it. That's when it becomes our team, their team. At the end of the day, the men on the field have to rebound from a bad play, celebrate the good plays, and keep each other in tune for a whole game. Robert Hunt is amazing. Size, talent, quickness, flexibility. Really intelligent guy that there will say himself there are technique things he needs to work on. Regardless of where players are at, there's a constant learning curve and loves that Big Rob is challenging himself with the position coach. Thinks the digital down and distance can be really valuable. Getting the information quickly will help with the flow of the game. Thought TMac looked great but there were some near misses that he'll have to get in the room and communicate with Bryce on while reviewing film. James Mitchell keeps doing right and his trust factor is increasing with the QBs. If you're right and the coverage says the ball goes there, it'll come. Had some issues at the start of camp but is trending up. Newton or Person: "It looked like today was beyond thud but short of live. What do you call that?" Canales: "No, that's thud. In my mind, that's what thud should look like. The challenge for our defensive guys is can you put your body in a position where we know that would've been a tackle." Whizzing by, tagging with two hands, etc doesn't show you whether you would've made a tackle. That's not real football. Let's the play extend because guys have to be ready to chase sometime where the ball squirts out from a pit. Can't train to say "Ah, it was a tackle" and relax but instead play with intensity through the whistle. Lathan Ransom is bringing the physical style of play that they saw on film. Has been really into the details and someone that they can count on. Has really given himself a chance to start at the other safety position. Excited for the extra energy from a game-like environment that they'll get from FanFest. Used to have four preseason games and now FanFest feels like that first one. Will give ST full speed reps to evaluate. Making plays and feeding off of the fans. Window closed quickly on the INT to finish practice. CSW baited Bryce with some movement and made a great play. Saw it from Bryce's perspective with TMac coming open. Has played all over the secondary that they can count on to speak loudly and be on the same page with his teammates.
