Yeah I didn't love our "weapons" or the scheme. Young wasn't completely at fault.

Looking back on it, I blame him less now than I did earlier. I mean, from a literal sense, two interceptions can easily cost you a game, so yeah -- but to be honest I pegged 2-3 today when I looked at that WR lineup before kickoff. Both picks are on him, but hell, he's a rookie. Cam had what, 5 turnovers his first 2 games, with 5 different skill position players better than Bryce's absolute best?

Atlanta could've blitzed more, but they dropped a lot of guys into coverage, and there were no pass-catchers breaking open. I can't pin that on the quarterback. People always blame the QB for losses and from a technical perspective, sure, that's fair. But I watched that game and did not see a bunch of missed throws, missed reads. Guys weren't getting open and he was getting aggravated. By the time he started to roll out of it, the WRs cut off their routes (TMJ) with a DB still in front of them.

Bryce, the DLine, and OLine impressed me in the first half. The 2nd half was pretty bad and I thought most of the team looked like dogchit to be honest. It's a team game and we have completely new coaches, players, etc. It's going take some time. I think if Bryce develops some chemistry on offense with his WR's then we might make a run late b/c it's going to take a few games for them to figure it out. Someone mentioned Bryce looked like a late round QB pick. I thought Ridder looked like the late round QB pick to me. Bryce was much more able to go through reads, calmer in the pocket, etc. He did throw 2 picks over the middle and I'm sure he's already thinking/learning from that. You guys are freaking out a bit. It's 1 game.

I was alittle concerned about his overthrows. I thought he had good accuracy. Wonder why he was poor on those long ones

It wasn't just long ones, he whiffed multiple times on the intermediate throws.

There is no sugarcoating it, he was really, really bad.

I fully expected us to lose but I just didn't see him performing that poorly coming. I don't really know what to think.

I hope it's just an aberration.

Yeah I thought Bryce was pretty damn solid in the first half, aside from the pick. I attribute that to his making a poor decision coupled with Reich calling a bad play on 2nd and 17 from inside our own 10, and an overall over-aggressive plan from the jump.

Reich didn't manage the game well and he probably knows that. I hope so at least.

Sorry, I missed those. I watched every offensive possession bar two in the third, and the intermediate throws he missed were to WRs with a CB and/or S draped all over them.

I think you're trying to attribute too much blame to the wrong place, but I'm not able to convince you of that, so you're free to see it that way.

Agreed. He’s a rookie, on the road, his first game.
The most recent Qb , # 1 overall pick , is Trevor Lawrence.  He’s a lot better year 3 than he was 2021 opening game. This doesn’t mean Bryce will be great. But most rookies struggle thier first year.  We don’t have a receiver with speed.  Today, tomorrow, the next day, we aren’t a good football team. But we will get better most weeks .

Trevors first game stats C65CAC91-52D1-41A4-9DB9-4BC813A139D2.jpeg.4794a4491540e182c28736c0f2885fee.jpegp3AFFCB7D-7AE7-4D3F-8738-638B24032D7E.jpeg.00a69913c0e951a426cb17bbe5124309.jpeg

That was Peyton Manning.  Also Dan Marino lost his first 3 games, even the one where he played most of the game.  Go look at Troy Aikman's first game...U-G-L-Y.

Again, I'm not a Young apologist, even though people are pushing in that direction.  Rookie QBs struggle, period.  Will Young be the savior of the franchise?  I dunno, but banking that decision based off today is ludicrous.

Young is an extremely smart and heady guy. Those were two hyper dumb-dumb INT's in scenarios where there was no need to press. That's not what I expected. He just didn't see these guys and his brain is what I(and I think most of us) coveted most.

But, remember the great Peyton Manning threw fugload of INT's in year 1.

I am just still processing the shock. It's probably not going to end up as bad as that looked.

I genuinely think Reich told him pregame, "Go out there and sling it, and we can clean up whatever we did wrong," which would explain his first NFL pass into a DAMN tight window to Hurst, for 12 yards, as well as the throw Bates picked off on the next possession.

You can have great skills like that, and being a rookie, you're still gonna get picked. He learned afterward and didn't target those areas, but then people got mad at him for not taking the shots that made them mad in the first place.

    • Great season regardless of what happens. From starting out 4-14 to ending 44-38 is incredible progress and future is bright from here. I do think we can beat the Heat and then win on the road against either Orlando or Philly assuming Embiid doesn’t miraculously return sooner. But if not, a higher draft pick is nice too
    • I know a DT that's asking for a trade: 🤔 maybe a home discount can be worked out. Dan Morgan could create up to $80 million in space through restructures of stars like Derrick Brown, Jaycee Horn, or Taylor Moton. They could also include players like Tershawn Wharton ($18.6M cap hit) in the trade to balance the salaries. Carolina Receives: DT  Dexter Lawrence II New York Receives: 2026 2nd Round Pick (No. 51 Overall): A premium Day 2 selection that fits the for  Lawrence  after his 0.5-sack season in 2025. WR  Xavier Legette : A young, high-upside receiver who provides the playmaking depth HC John Harbaugh needs for his offense. 2026 4th Round Pick: Immediate mid-round value. 2027 4th Round Pick (via MIN): Future capital acquired in the  Adam Thielen  trade.  ----- Stone Forsythe* (another young player as a potential trade option)provides immediate offensive line retooling for HC John Harbaugh.    John Harbaugh's history in Baltimore proves he values draft volume over individual superstars.    Just my 2cents
    • Moved to Tuesday, not Wednes because of scheduling with Flyers game or something in Philly. But I don't feel good about the Heat.  It has been a great season regardless.  Team just been playing so hard to move up since a bad start and just picked a bad time to get gassed.  It's like almost everyone is shooting cold at the same time even wide open shots.   Maybe atmosphere and playoffs kick off a spark.  I'd rather be in a series than a one and done though. The team has a good foundation to build on regardless of what happens.
