True big picture, but the Falcons D wasn’t playing in that manner Sunday.   Because they didn’t view Carolina capable or willing to do the home run balls.

Yeah this isn't them taking away the deep shots, they just didn't respect our WR's enough to give safety help deep. AT taking like 4 seconds to get a glimpse of separation is not going to magically start working either.

Young can sling it. Elite arm strength is not there yet he's only 22. Off the charts physical ability isn't the end all be all anyway we saw that with Darnold. My issue is the same problems plagued us that have for the last few seasons. Our receivers are still struggling to gain separation and the ones who can are banged up and missing time. This is on our GM. He took enormous risks with this receiving core and traded away a hell of a lot for a young rookie QB.

Still waiting for someone to explain how players being banged up is the fault of a GM. Unless of course they had issues staying healthy in college.

Well yeah but we drafted both of them #1 overall. And if we are going to use the excuse for lack of experience then we should be objective on all fronts, yes?

Wasn’t the year Cam went first overall the year there was a lockout or something so so vets weren’t doing their normal routine and workouts and stuff?

I guess. My problem is everyone trash-talks other players who played badly and rightly so. But god forbid the chosen one gets a little poo and called out for it. The hypocrites on this board are something else. If Young doesn't want us talking poo, do something about it on the field. I loved Cam he proved it on the field.

Rookies always take time. This is obvious to anyone that has watched sports for more than 5 years. Relax.

Not always. Herbert looked good out the gate. Luck was good. Cam threw for 400 yards to start his career. Just a few rookies off the top of my head.

I don’t remember that to be honest.

The vets had a wonky offseason due to the lockout and we’ve seen how much a change in offseason activity works for the league. Look at how bad many folks who are elite played in week 1 with the less preseason games. Now imagine players can’t come into the facility and get their work in and they all have to do it on their own? Sloppy play and not being ready to start the season. Rookies who were on a program to workout and work together for the draft benefit that year.

    • Pytor kochetkov assigned to Chicago for conditioning stint. Wonder if he gets playing time in the playoffs if Bussi or Freddy flounders
    • What specific LT at 19 are all of the OT Stan’s wanting? Be specific. All have issues and are not guaranteed to improve the OL.. The chances of one of these LT’s who are projected at 19 (Proctor, Lomu) being a bust is much higher than a guy like Lemon/Concepcion imo. Do you really want to draft a kid who has weight struggles along with lateral movement issues? And the other who was a shitty run blocker vs Big 12 competition? Morgan and Co. want to see how Rasheed Walker plays.. They also want to see how Icky’s rehab goes.. There’s a lot of  “wait and see at OT”  We don’t have the luxury for our 1st round pick being a backup. We lack top end talent. Morgan and the others have made it known they want to win now. For that reason, I’m almost positive we punt on OT in the first this year and worry about it next year in the first round if need be.    Thieneman would be ideal. He’s a natural “center field” safety with great coverage skills. For the posters who want trade up for Downs…Do you realize he struggles in coverage? He’s more of a box safety. We already have two of those players.. I wouldn’t mind trading in front of the Vikings for the Thieneman though.. Next need would be DT, but I don’t see the value there at 19.. Same with edge. WR at #19 is very realistic. Who would improve this team more than Lemon/Concepcion? You could argue a slot CB, but the value isn’t great there either. People tend to forget the Seattle Seahawks game.. Yes BY sucked, but no one was getting open.. We could use a quick savvy route runner to beat man coverage. TMAC and Coker are great, but consistently creating separation vs Man Coverage is not their strength.
