The only acceptable statement if Fox is retained...

If Fox is retained for next season, there is one thing I want to hear from him in regards to the QB position. I am going to spell it out here word for word for John Fox to memorize and regurgitate......

Any mention of Delhomme as still the starter and there will be a mutiny like they have ever seen. You don't let a young guy play this well and replace him with a shitty vet at the first chance you get. He needs confidence, and you sure as hell better give it to him.

If Fox does this I will be 100% behind him staying. I just don't trust him when it comes to Jake.

There's no way Jake is named the unquestioned starter for next year. That would be like the Titans promising the job back to Kerry Collins.

I just don't see any way that this happens. Unless Moore comes out and throws seven INTs against N.O. next week. But even if that happens, I think they just decide to get a QB in the draft as opposed to just giving the job back to Jake.

You know what he'll say...

Pre-OTA's:

"We're going to evaluate the quarterback position, just like we evaluate every position, and we'll go with the player that we feel gives us the best chance to win"

Pre-Season Opener:

"We evaluated the position, and we feel that even though Matt did some good things last year that Jake still gives us the best chance to win"

Everyone knows that's exactly how it will go if Fox is retained, don't even try to lie to yourselves.

I was thinking this was a reference to the only thing JR can say if he brings Fox back...

"We only have 1 year to go and I'm going to take a chance on saving money rather than give the fans what they want. Give me 1 year to find the right guy and hopefully get us a back to back winning season, playoff berth and superbowl."

Dammit if I don't agree with you.

If Fox pulls this crap I will not watch another Panther game until Moore is starting or there is a new QB.

If I were JR I would ensure Matt was the leading candidate for starting QB or I would fire Fox with a quickness.

Good grief, I agree with this post. Jake being named starter again would be soul-crushing. ITTMO (it's time to move on)

Zod is definitely bored over the holidays and is stirring the pot.

If Fox is here, Jake will be too. But I expect that Moore will be the starter. When Fox replaced Peete with Jake, Peete stayed with the team through 2004 but didn't start. Moore has won the right to go to camp and play with the ones. Whether he keeps it or not is up to him as well.

Besides if Jake were the starter again, he would be on the shortest leash ever. I could see him getting yanked at halftime in the first game like Peete was.

    • Trade up for a project was dumb, he's gonna be 25 next month. By the time you're deciding on whether he's worth the 5th year option or a big contract you're already gonna be thinking about moving on soon either way.
    • I mean this is legit AF statement....you don't spend that draft capital on a project just like you don't trade up for an injured RB either, which was done in the same draft.  That draft IMO was a necessary evil for DM to learn from his mistakes (I think he did but some may not). Also I have to mention I'm a big Coker fan and think getting him as an UDFA was obv a steal.  Coker is the better WR2 at this point as Legette and its not even debatable unfortunately.  Give him year 3 but don't expect much from him.  Continue in the offseason with adding as much talent and competition on the roster as possible including WR.  Or just trade his ass for peanuts and continue to build roster by any means.......
    • Losing him was a huge loss. Look at how the Bears went from a 5 win team to now a 11 win team. The Lions offensive line is bad this year, secondary is bad and Campbell going for it on 4th down all the time has cost them games instead of taking the Field Goals. Goff is inconsistent as well.
