Do you think the Panthers will move?

Wrong as usual. The Canadians for example seat over 21000 and have an attendance % of 100%. The Chicago blackhawks seat 20500 but due to standing room only are at 106% of capacity so far this year. Based on average attendance- the Hurricanes are 25th out of 30th. When they base it on attendance as a percentage of capacity (what percentage sold out) they are 24th out of 30. Behind such towns as Columbus, Ohio and Nashville, Tennessee.

Most Northern cities where hockey is big, usual fill between 95% and 103% of capacity every game. In the south it is much less. The triangle is a college basketball area and little else. They can't support hockey let alone baseball or football.

Isnt that what they said about Charlotte before the Hornets? Hockey is a required taste if you never was around it takes time to get into it. Every hockey game Ive been to at Raleigh they seemed packed.

They're definitely fun. However, the Hornets were new to the Charlotte pro sports market (like the Canes are now to Raleigh) and the arena wasn't too big. Packman said on his radio show that the first handful of seasons, they were always sold out and it was a rockin' atmosphere. Then, they kept sucking and people lost interest. Then the Panthers came. Then Shinn screwed up and they left.

I predict over time, unless they're winning, Canes games will lose some energy as well. I still think the Triangle could pull off baseball. It just fits that market better.

LOL that would be an acquired taste not required one. And the facts are the facts. With as many transplants and Yankees moving to the triangle they really should have a strong base for hockey already. But I agree that Hockey isn't a Southern thing. Still to fill a stadium of 19 000 is alot easier than filling a stadium of 70,000. And baseball is even harder. The average atendance across all stadiums in 2008 was 34,543 per game and there are 81 home games. Neither the triangle or Charlotte are big enough for that.

If they move itll probably be to Raleigh. The fans there do a much better job supporting the hurricanes than the fans here do the panthers or bobcats. Charlotte fans are just too laid back and fairweather to support a pro team. I fully expect this to happen when Jerry finally sells the team.
