I have decided to declare for the Draft

I have decided to forgo my senior year at ECU and will declare for the NFL draft as soon as I can figure out the proper paperwork to fill out. I think that I would be a late round steal for the carolina panthers organization, and hope they would consider drafting me.

Physical stats:

5'11" tall (in cleats) of angry Irish American descent.

160lbs (dripping wet, and with clothes on, and after I've let my hair grow out)

Injury History:

Torn meniscus while attempting a drunken flip in my friend's back yard when I was 18. Never repaired in surgery. Surgery is for pussies (and people who's insurance will cover it)

Sprained ACL when I was 20 after playing flag football for ECU's inter-mural team. Still hurts when it rains or is about to rain.

Projected Combine stats:

24" vertical

4.5 speed... okay that was in high school before the knee injuries... We'll go with 4.3 now. I'm like Steve Smith, I get faster due to injuries.

bench reps: 1/2... okay maybe 1 if I'm amped up on Hawaiian Punch before the workout.

Football history:

Played for a season when I was 13. Stopped playing due to physical limitations (I didn't hit puberty until I was 17... shut up, my mom says I'm a late bloomer)

This one time I caught a diving pass one handed on a go route for a TD in my backyard when I was 12. It was pretty diesel.

Consistent Madden champion within tournaments between my friends. 360 version only though, my game doesn't transition well across other systems. and as we all know, If you are good at Madden, you are good in real life as well. It's science.

Here is a picture of your hopeful future star:

That's right, it's a ginger beard. Told you I was Irish. Hands big enough to half block out a grown man's face from a picture being taken a few feet away, yet delicate enough for my girlfriend to say "you have the softest hands of anyone I've ever met, even softer than girl's". I'm sure she meant I would be able to catch a football, she just made it sound pansy-like to push me harder to train (and by train I mean play madden).

I will be entering the draft as a WR. Consider your prayers for a threat opposite Steve answered. I hope to be in uniform for the Panthers in April, and will play for cheap, league minimum even. my only contractual request would be to have an assistant to apply SPF 50 sunscreen on me at regular 1 hour intervals for any prolonged exposure to the sun. I burn easily... just like the defenders that will go up against me...

Before you scoff at the idea just ask yourselves one thing, 'Hey, can he be any worse than Jarrett?'.

I think not.

That actually reminds me of a funny story I heard about a guy that declared for the draft when he was in high school. He sent his scouting info to every NBA team in the nation. The scouts called in bothering his coach for 2 weeks.

It was a good practical joke.

It seems they'll look at you no matter what just to cover their bases. But that was a long time ago.

    • I think the absolute ceiling is 5 with Bryce. I’m expecting 3. They will absolutely beat the Saints at least once, maybe twice.
    • The offense made a turnover that resulted in a TD. You take that TD off the board and this would have been an entirely different game. I think Evero has the same problems that Canales has. I think they are both handcuffed to some degree due to a talent deficiency on their side of the ball. Canales doesn't have a QB capable of running his scheme. Evero doesn't have enough talent on his side to be effective in his scheme. Our highest paid d-lineman is a good run defender but contributes little to our pass rush. None of LBs would start on a contending team. Our current starting  safeties don't make impact plays. Only 2 of our 11 starters (Brown, Horn) have to be accounted for on each play. Some of this may still be their fault. It appears both have lobbied for players (via FA or the draft)who haven't contributed much. They seem hesitant to play their younger players or remain loyal to guys who just don't produce when they are on the field. As bad as this team is, you'd think they'd be dedicated to getting the young guys on the field as much as possible. Wasting #1 picks on Young and Legette and questionable selections on the defensive side of the ball has set this team back for years.
    • I think we saw exactly who Bryce Young is on the final drive of the game.
