Martin is pretty good when played in spurts. It’s when he’s treated as a starter that his play inevitably takes a turn for the worse. It also helps having the Canes defense I’m front of him.

Looking at his career stats I occur with both of your points. He rises to the occasion when played sparingly with the Canes D in front. Martin is very good weapon to have!

The Hockey Guy, who if you follow him you know he’s watched basically every hockey game for the past 7 years, said last night Martin is not an every night type of guy. He never has been and probably never will be.

Yep!  I think we all know that. That’s why Koochie is the guy.  Koochie in 4 years could be the best goalie in hockey.

Player props following the Florida game.

Svech is a power forward in every sense. Anyone besides me notice his PIM are down and he's not taking as many dumb penalties at bad times?

Speaking of D, TDA is playing better, more disciplined and responsible hockey now that his playing time has been decreased.

Orlov on his off side may be his strength. It certainly gives him more offensive opportunities. He muscled through several Panther players last night and make some key defensive plays.

Also props for the Panthers- Slavin was Slavin and Kotch stopped 45 of 45 SOG (now revised up from 44 SOG).

Now for a reality check- with all the post and bar hits and wide open net chances missed by both sides, this could have easily been a 3-2 game either way. Canes allowed 45 SOG and lost faceoffs 61% to 39%. You can’t do that and expect to beat a team in a series counting on any goalie to save you every time. Canes have to do better the next time they play the Panthers.

    • You're dreaming if you think that's all it would cost to move up from the 51st pick to the 1st round. It would take at least a first next year
